Yet more financial faux pas and many other disasterous decisions

Didn't put the tree up in the end. The kitten decided it was a bit cold to play with his mouse in the field so brought it indoors instead which started the great feline standoff. The one eyed cat decided that all rodents withoin the house were hers and hissed and spat and generally made the kitten back off. The dogs then took sides defending the cats and the mouse was generally forgotten until the four legged fiend spotted it legging it under the sofa. In her determination to get to it she moved the sofa four feet into the armchair which moved a further two feet before coming to rest against the wall. It should be noted that this is the sort of furniture that one cleans around because its too heavy to move. Much sweeping up followed along with a spot of rearrangig and after several hours of all four animals chasing the mouse around the house we finally cornered it and relocated it to the garden. Means the floor under the furniture is now spotless but the tree would have suffered colateral dmage and by that point in the day we'd given up all hoope of ever catching the mouse.
DD2s Scalectrix is most impressive. She kept appearing to borrow more bits from OHs stash, the end result is four large loops, several bridges, lots of cros overs, hairpins and around 20m of track. She was desperately trying to figure out how to wedge a jump in but simply couldn't without opening the door and continuing down the hallway and into DD1s room. They have tried this before but the hound from hell chases the cars before picking them up and running off with them. It kept both DDs and OH occupied for most of the afternoon.
I spent the afternoon alternating being beaten at Scalectrix and randomly tidying. Hoping to get to Thursday before I do a mahoosive clean in readiness for Grannys arrival on Saturday. Need to do much Christmas shopping before then though.
Spent the evening watching Hancock which was most odd. Finished knitting the wrap which is even more awesome in reality than in KnittingNoras piccies. Surfed for a bit and found a pattern for a hat that uses a smidgen more of the uber expensive yarn than I've bought. Hoping they're erring on the generous side as I'm halfway through knitting that. Finding I'm sleeping much better at the mo, can only assume that knitting is helping me relax. Don't seem to be anywhere near as argumentative in daylight either which is always good.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -

Tree is up and decorated. Admitedly we did this in two stages. The first by hanging a single green chilli to a low down branch which rather predictably the hound from hell nicked and scoffed and secondly by hanging the actual decorations once she was firmly convinced that all things tree related taste nasty. Not brave enough to use breakable decorations this year so have dug out the naff plastic ones and half a ton of tinsel. The DDs had a great time decorating it so its less colour co-ordinated minimalistic designer tree and more explosion in a tacky poundshop, a look which is compounded by the deorations stopping three feet from the floor. Mind you they have managed to cram on every non-breakable decoration in the box which is a feat in itself.
Started evicting cobwebs from ceilings. Didn't get very far. Managed to do a few bits of tidying but the day seemed to fly by, kept getting dragged upstairs kicking and screaming to participate in the house Grand Prix. DD2 has developed some madly complicated method of scoring which means being timed and penalised for coming off the track and crashing but gaining points for managing 360 degree spins whilst doing this. Its kept her quiet for ages. DD1 meanwhile has come up with the bright idea of bunging Granny and Gramps on the sofa bed so that they can experience the delights of the track too, otherwise it has to be tidied away in order for them to use DD2s room.
Plans for today involve a brief forray into work and a spot of christmas gift hunting otherwise OH will have nothing to open x-mas day. DD1 has a few ideas of things she wants to look at but DD2 is clueless. Also need to take a few piccies of my latest finishes. Have already had to rescue the wrap from DD1s evil clutches. Guess I'll be making her one in the not too distant future.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Payment finally arrived from OnePoll so my paypal account is v. healthy. Also recieved confirmation from Music Magpie that the first of two cheques is on its way.
Took the DDs christmas shopping yesterday but failed miserably. The shops are full of tat. They were most disappointed that there was nothing suitable for OH. Treated them to lunch at McDonalds. Still managed to fill four hours trudging round but spending nowt. Detoured via the local yarn shop which now stocks James Brett Chunky. Its nicer in the flesh than the piccies on the website but they're far too expensive to buy from. Even with postage its cheaper to buy elsewhere.... especially when I need at least three balls to knit myself a hoodie which is my next project, although one that will have to wait until January becasue the pattern is unlikely to arrive from the US before then.
Spent yesterday evening knitting the soles of a pair of baby shoes complete with paw prints. They're adorable, but a litle fiddly. Tis phase one of my first attempt at felting.
Plans for today involve a spot of ruby grapefruit maramalde making and much more tidying. The place seems to get messier with every passing minute.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Thank you for the little parcel that arrived, you're very kind indeed
Just have to peel Mr Fresian off the computer now so that they can be transferred to my Kindle0 -
Sorry to hear that xmas shopping was such a bust. One of the advantages of relatives living on the other side of the world, is that they send money. This means that the boys can get something decent (with a little bit of guidance from us), in the january sales.
