Wow, how gorgeous. Would not have the patience to spend so much effort on that lush shawl - but I don't suppose the pattern for the hat is online somewhere is it? Might have a bash at that over Christmas.

    Why thank y'all!

The beanie hat is still undergoing product test but should be available shortly. The designer is also working on a matching cowl, but you can get your paws on the gloves.

Not entirely sure what to do with the shawl. Was going to give it a friend for christmas but now its finished its most definately not her cup of tea. Its not mine either. I'm going to give this one a whirl and Granny is very generously supplying the yarn for Christmas. Of course I'm going to have to go clothes shopping to find something to wear with it but thats part of the grand plan for the new and improved moo.

Meanwhile the postie has been and still hasn't brought any yarn. Humph. Have itchy fingers. Might have to give in and spend another evening sewing mices bums.

Spent the majority of the morning wrapping christmas gifts with DD2. Quite surprised just how much stuff I'd stashed without realising it. Doesn't solve the problem of DD2s imminent birthday though.

yep, I think the same thing too. I am loving that link for the grey shawl too. It looks really delicate and difficult.

  • Loving the grey shawl - and am in awe of your talent moo! On the current shawl, you mentioned it's more the size of a scout necker (the mind boggles...do the scouts have you listed! ;)).

If so, have you thought about turning it round and securing the thin ends at the back of the neck leaving the big pointy end over the chest area to look like one of those big pointy 'bib' style scarves women wear these days?

I mention this because the gorgeous colour scheme and pattern really look like vintage Missoni and would look stunning worn with a plain t-shirt and jeans under a little jacket.... depending on the age and fashion instincts of DD2, might even solve your present problem...

DD2 lives in holey tracksuit bottoms. They're never holey when she puts them on but she usually manages to find a tree to climb or some other such thing to get up to resulting in the destruction of whatever it is shes wearing.

You might be on to something with the bib thing... it would work wonders on DD1 as an actual bib. Not that shes a messy eater or anything but shes so airey fiary that she forgets what shes doing and the fork invariably gets sidetracked en route to her mouth.

Have to confess to a yarn splurge.... v. naughty I know.... but its for a pair of irresistable newborn felted shoes in the shape of kitten paws. Have wanted to try felting for a while and Christmas is the obvious time to do it.

Edited to add: admiring the grey shawl and reproducing it are two completely different things.

Poor DD2 - hope foot is better soon - your GP not symapthetic enough to give those painkillers on prescription so you take advantage of having free prescriptions here in Wales if nothing else?

Nope, both the GP and A&E request that you purchase low cost items. Expensive stuff is free but the basics they won't dole out prescriptions for.

Shes feeling much better though now the extra piankillers are helping. She smiled yesterday for the first time in ages. Still ghostly pale though. Have agreed with her teacher that she can go to her class party for the last hour of the school day. Means today will be spent doing her homework which shes rather looking forward to, turns out the teacher forgot to ask the rest of them to bring in party food so DD2 is baking buns to take with her. Have a pile of catch up work for her to do when she feels like it but she doesn't at the mo. although she did find the energy to whip up a christmas stocking yesterday.

Plans for today involve a spot of ironing around the baking plus all the usually bits of domestic drudgery. At some point a log delivery will appear, probably around the same time as the coal man. Trundling logs from the drive to the log store should keep me occupied for quite some time.
