Sometimes being a Northerner has its down sides. OH claims its all to do with my upbringing but I feel this ridiculous urge to do completely unrealistic things just to prove I can. Even though I know I can't or shouldn't or should vaguely acknowledge that the task I'm hell bent on screwing up is completely beyond me

Oh brilliant will blame my random Will-Do-Even-When-Not-Sure-Why-Any-Mores on my northern-ness too :D

Most notable being navy blue wool because I doubt it would be quite as funky in barbie pink.

  • Hello All

I still hear family calling the american aunts and uncles YANKIES!!!!!!!!!! Good enough word for them too. They really do forget where they came from sometimes and talk down to us who live in better houses than they do...........hilarious :)

Technicolour darleks? Thats just sooo wrong. Surely they're meant to be made of dubiously painted cardboard and weeble precarioiusly around saying " I am a darlek, I am a darlek" just in case you thought it was a person in a giant box who couldn't see out and kept crashing into things.

Spent yesterday painting fences. Several people asked me if I was feeling OK. Didn't realise why until I looked in the mirror and found my face liberally covered with small [STRIKE]pink[/STRIKE] burgundy(because thats the colour the boss chose) paint spalts which look just like an outbreak of measles and which stubbornly refuse to wash off. Bah.

The rest of the day was spent delegating to minions. Persuaded the illegal immigrant to clean toilet partitions and toilets. Five hours later she still hasn't finished. Guess I'll be doing some of that today. Spent an hour treking from classroom to bin to dispose of all the junk teachers have decided can go. Wish they'd done that at the start of the holiday.

Came home kettled at 8pm armed with fish and chips. Scoffed that and started to fall asleep on the sofa. COuld happily have had an early night but had forgotten about the Ocado delivery. OH did offer to wait up for it but I'm rather glad he didn't. Returned no end of stuff. Loaves of bread that were packaged in with 2kg bags of sugar resulting in v. flat bread and a 1kg joint of meat which was barely bigger than a pork chop with the price adjusted accordingly. Not overly impressed which is odd because they're usually superb. Still did end up with a huge discount on the stuff I did buy.

The DDs pony cross day was downgraded to a badge day at £10 less. Bit of a joke though as between them they amassed 15 badges. Its not like Brownies. Invested the tenner in secondhand needles on flea bay in anticipation of darlek making and sock making and a whole heap of other stuff. Went on to order the wool too. Theres no stopping me once I get a hare brained idea firmly stuck in my head.

OHs boss has dropped a major clanger and has the entire department off on leave, compasionate leave or off site projects with the exception of two people. Unsurprisingly OH has been asked to work all this weekend and all next weekend. Rather glad hes booked to go away with DD1 otherwise he'd end up doing three weeks without a break again. As it is hes working this weekend which will at least cover his model boat buying splurge.

Did a wee bit more housework yesterday. Its barely making any difference at all though. Especially since a friend materialised part way through with a huge bag of clothes for the DDs and lots of odds and ends of knitting wool for DD2 to make scarves with. Spent rather more time sitting round drinking coffee than I did cleaning. Am most glad I'd had a quick go at the kitchen yesterday.

Good luck on getting back into the swing of things. We are getting tired children over here because they changed the end of the terms to as to fit in with the Rugby World Cup!!! So we would usually finish in September and now don't finish till October!

Off to make another lot of marmalade.

and so the illegal immigrant waited until lunchtime to text in because she wasn't coming. Obviously not a surprise since she was due in at 8am.Meant I ran round like a headless chicken. On the brightside I've only used 50 hours of holiday over the summer which means I have enough for October half term off and Christmas and perhaps a teeny weeny bit of February too. Will be most glad of this when the time comes. Am now torn between feeling I should pop into school to vac up the bits left by teachers ready for monday but fully aware that this will probably take 3 hours and it'll get vac'd on Monday anyway... thats assuming the illegal immigrant has recovered by then and thinking aw sod it. Today is gonna be hectic enough as it is.

Plans for today involve riding lessons, Country Marketing, sewing up the final owl request and keeping everything crossed that the postie brings not-really-a-dalek wool otherwise I'm v. tempted to start on something else to do this evening.... mices bums being quite high up on my list of irrelevant things to do. Still have a box of Elderberries in the fridge to transform into something edible.

Also need to track down new insurance since my car quote is ludicrous and means I lose the ability to drive other cars third party which I do surprisingly often.

Got a call to say DD1s specs were ready to collect. Nipped down to Mr Ts just before they shut to pick them up. They look fab, fit great and best of all there were no complaints of headaches at bedtime. Did have to wrestle them off when I found she'd gone to sleep in them though.

Whilst in Mr Ts I committed the cardinal sin of grabbing a couple of pizzas for dinner and some milk, cheese, cat food, whoopsied meat and racked up a £40 bill. Bah. Will have to venture back there before the weekend to refuel the car although I haven't done that since the South Coast of England which was almost two weeks ago. Suspect it would have lasted longer but we still haven't taken the roofbox off. Will get that done this evening.

Had an astounding day at the market selling half a dozen assorted jams to a single person. Also discovered theres an Apple Festival at a local National Trust property for which much baking is required. Have to endure a day manning the stall but can take the DDs and allow them to roam freely for the duration which is most excellent. Downside is this means an entire weekend of baking inexpensive apple themed stuff which will not require refrigeration. Suggestions welcomed.

As predicted postie failed to bring large parcels so was forced to knit teeny weeny mice. They're done on the smallest needles known to man and take an eternity and are soooooo fiddly that I had to use the desk lamp to see what I was doing. The assorted parts are rather cute though. Suspect I won't think that once I start sewing them together.

Plans for today involve much laundry since its gloriously sunny out. Gardening would also be beneficial and as for the housework... well I'll clean the bathrooms and do the rest of it next time it rains.
