Yet more financial faux pas and many other disasterous decisions

Theres a lot to be said about a life without newspapers. Have missed out on all the recent shenanigans by the mindless minority. Mind you friend was a bit shocked by my lack of knowledge of events beyond the hills and was randomly mentioning events to me to see quite how oblivious to things I was. Was more than a bit surprised to find out I'd missed the demise of the Queen mum, even if it was over a decade ago. Mind you can't say I'm at all bothered that I know knothing of Wags or Peter Andres love life.
Things here have been rather tempestuous. Wind has been so great that the roof of the chicken shed disappeared over night along with an entire bird box. Ended up resorting to lighting the fire when the temperature in the house dropped to single figures. Had to shut the fire right down though because the updraft was making the logs disappear in minutes rather than hours.
Finished my stint at work. Am most glad to have gotten today out of the way. The rentals have been unbelievably badly behaved. Had two escape attempts one of which managed to make it to holiday club which gave them a bit of a surprise.
Now have no work whatsoever for an entire fortnight. Whooooopppppeeeeee and have started the hols of with another Amazon sale which means I've shifted half the stuff I listed. Doubt the rest will sell but you never know.
Friends parting gift was a very nice quilting book, spent the evening oohing over all the nice yet pointless things I could make from it. Am doubly glad I have no reason to go anywhere near a craft shop for quite some time. Another friend is donating several pairs of knitting needles in my direction which means I should shortly be able to get on with the mouses bum tea cosy. Although I think the amount of sewing up involved will drive me nuts its still rather cute.
Little chick is getting feistier with every passing day and is outside with its mums managing to be in the front row of the scrum for treats. I fear it may be a boySaving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Hey Moo,
I've not been that active on here lately and have only just found you again.
Nothing to add as the people on here are extremely wise and have said some great things but just wanted to add that you have another person thinking of you and sending good vibes in your direction and someone who knows that you will make the right decisions and will support your DD's throughout this difficult time and definitely make it out the other side.
Take care
xx
ps you said my marmalade would be better than I expected and it was indeed, my Dad took several jars and I gave one to a guy at work and he polished it off in a week and asked for his next one.....I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills

Morning missus,

Sat down and discussed things with the DDs. We've considering spending a week pretending we live in a victorian hovel which means no telly or electrical items whatsoever. No indoor plumbing but torchlit trips to the privy in the outhouse mid way down the garden. Decided this was just a bit too extreme or at least DD1 did when she screached "I need a bath. I can't not have a bath for a whole week. Thats minging mother."
Plan B involves living like eco warriers which means minimal electricity and only showering when the sun shines and the solar panels provide enough hot water.
Plan C is currently under formultation.
Hi Moo
I guess either A or B has been approved for these two weeks off so you won't be able to come on the laptop.
Hope you have fun during your time off :T

It helps to have a set of goals in mind. Things that are almost achievable, after all theres no point having a target you know you can’t achieve, nor one that’s a doddle. Wheres the incentive in that?
So in no particular order of importance my goals are thusly:
- To be sub 5K by Christmas
- To have the sort of house where the unexpected arrival of someone on the doorstep doesn’t leave me having palpitations (although toilet training the OH is critical to this particular plan)
- To have more fun and spend more time doing things with the DDs
- To grow more veg although this does involve weeding which I detest
- To spend less time and money in supermarkets
- To be debt free by 37 which allows for a new roof and the replacement of OHs car
- To have a hobby. Any hobby. And find the time to do it.
- To learn to run and then complete the Marathon des Sables and the Tough Guy Challenge
- To improve my Welsh so I can say something other than Gallau mynd i'r ty bach os gwelwch yn dda?
I have only just come across your diary so I'm sorry if someone else has already posted this/something similar.
I'm trying to learn Welsh as well. I think it would really help me to progress in work.
Have you come across https://www.saysomethinginwelsh.com ?
It's mostly about conversational/informal Welsh but it may get you started. Plus it's FREE so very MSE!
I have to confess that I joined up weeks ago and only got as far as lesson one but you would be amazed at how well received I am when I say "Dwi'n trio dysgu siarad Cymraeg".
I've also been told by Welsh speaking colleagues that the best way to convince people that you speak Welsh is just to be confident in the way you switch between Welsh and English :rotfl:0 -
Hope things are going as well as can be expected. Enjoy your time with DD's like the eco warrior idea....but my two wouldn't care about not bathing...lol
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Hope that you are enjoying the holidays and wondering if plan c might have been a camping trip. Then you could combine plans a and b.Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0

thinking of you Moo and hoping you are having a good week with the girls..

Went with Plan C in the end which involved a horrendous journey home as a gazzillion other people headed north to the V festival and solidified the motorways and the A-roads and the B roads and generally caused carnaged. Made it almost as far as Bridgenorth after ten hours travelling at which point a succession of police officers turned us around and directed us home via a minor Mid Walian detour which saw us heading in the opposite direction and exchanging a jam caused by festival goers for a steady stream of jack knifed caravans. Why is it people even attempt to tow a caravan with a car the size of a mini round steep hairpin bends and then stand at the side of the road looking all bemused with the car on its roof at one side of the road and the caravan at the other?
Was rather reluctant to go but am rather glad I did. The hound from hell and I were awake super early every morning and spent a couple of hours on the beach chasing seagulls before anyone else was about. Managed lots of late night after dinner walks too which gave me plenty of time to myself and was muchly needed. The DDs have had a great time and have been on steam trains and have climbed castle walls and visited gardens and a vast array of playgrounds. They've eaten far more ice cream than is good for them and OH was willingly involved in everything which made a huge change too. They swam in the pool every day whilst I supervised from between the pages of a succession of novels. Also took full advantage of the hotels free book exchange to come back with a heap of books to read which should keep me busy for quite some time. Forgot I'd packed the Kindle. Still not got used to it. The novelty has most definately worn off. I much prefer holding a book in my hands which is just as well the number of times I put it down on a table in one of them any communal areas and pootled off to do something pressing ranging from teaching the DDs to line dance to proving that I can walk on my hands much to the amazement of several passing guests.... mostly because my t-shirt was covering my head and not the parts of my anatomy that a t-shirt normally covers.
Haven't had to cook or wash up or do anything even vaguely dometicated for an entire week which has been total bliss. Will be back to reality with a bump tomorrow as I tackle a roof box full of washing.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500
