Have I found a branch of Candle-stashers Anonymous? My name is Greyfox and I, too, have a candle stash! Some of mine date back to the 3-day week (1974!), then there is the box of 24 outdoor candles bought for our housewarming in 1988 (it rained!), several boxes of dinner candles in different colours & sizes (we never eat by candlelight), a load of memorial lights & other candles inherited from MiL, a bag of tea lights, about half a dozen pillar candles + various scented candles which people have given me. My OH hates candles & is convinced that the house will burn down if we light one!! I know I ought to chuck the lot but.....

Aaaah I knew there was something I forgot to mention.... we don't have a candle holder that fits the candles, instead we sharpen them with a kitchen knife and wedge them into wine bottles, admittedly not something you can do easily in a power cut. We did have a hideous candelabra which was missing the bit that you put the candles in so that was ruthlessly lobbed several years ago. I have no desire to aquire another. Clearly I'm not a candle person. I'm still recovering from the trauma of PartyLite parties when every nursery fundraiser seemed to include one.

Spent yesterday at Mosi with the OH, the demonic daughters and the wrinklies. Spent more time looking for the Wrinklies than looking round the museum. One minute they were there and the next they'd found some obscure exit to nothingness and wandered out of it. Couldn't contact them by phone because they'd left it in the car. They're harder work than the kids. Got cheesed off in the end and left them to it, only to find that they'd gone for lunch. Remind me never ever to suggest meeting them somewhere again.

Mosi was... interesting. If anyone can shed some light on the relationship between Alan Turing and the LGBT community I would be most impressed. .... duh turns out he was gay. Why didn't they say that then? We spent ages trying to figure out why an Enigma machine was surounded by gay pride displays.

In most exciting news I have a ticket for a coach trip to Wonderwool *squeeee* Now trying to decide what workshops to book and how many surveys and mystery shops I should do between now and then so as to have guilt free cash with which to splurge.

I'm with Igamogam on this one! The virtually instant headache they induce may have something to do with it. (My stash included 2 of the things but I off-loaded them to a Charity Shop within days of getting them.)

Yesterday was spent in a whirlwind of activity. Spent a couple of hours clearing fallen branches, leaves and moss in the garden, almost as long ironing in readiness for school and another couple of hours ruthlessly tidying. Even managed to get one of the giant rugs washed which is a feat in itself. In and amongst I ventured to Mr Ts armed with two children and a £7 off a £50 spend. Overspent quite considerably but now have enough cleaning stuff and washing liquid to last at least the next six months.

Completely forgot to go into school so things as much as I left them last week which is a bit of a pain as the floor is covered in plastic from me painint and the hall, corridors and staff room were covered in glitter from one of the holiday clubs. Should really think about going in early this morning.

In and amogst the fun I knitted half a sock and purchased more sock yarn in a sale. Must knit more and buy less.

Made the most of the glorious sunshine by speding half a day pottering in the garden. Filled another wheelie bin with debris but succeeded in clearing two patios and a flight of stairs from moss and other winter detritus. Got two loads of laundry dried on the line too. Love seeing laundry flapping in the breeze.

Came indoors and cleared the surface of the computer desk of tat before legging it to work. Amalgamated all the lightbulbs into one place. Still have over 50 of them thanks to various 1p and 10p promotions when energy saving bulbs were first launched. Did the same with envelopes and writing paper. I now have a drawer crammed full of them and a box full on the shelf too, I knew we had a lot, but I didn't realise it was quite so many. It doesn't help that the OH buys them by the boxload.

Next on the agenda is random computer gubbins. We appear to have three crates full of PC related gubbins which I'm pretty sure we don't need, although I'll need to persuade the OH to go through that otherwise I'm guaranteed to chuck a motherboard thats compatible with his current creation. Scary just how much stuff we still have that we really don't need. Have already filled the general tat wheelie bin whch doesn't get emptied for another week. I forsee at least one trip to the tip this week.
