Whooooo hoooooo it's the weekend, it's gloriously sunny, the Oh has taken the demonic daughters to their riding lesson which means I get a couple of hours peace in which to tame the wilderness. Clearly this explains why I'm sitting on my bum at the PC with a steaming mum of coffee then.

Things are going swimmingly well. The OHs current attempt to stop smoking seems to be having some sort of impact. He's swapped from roll ups to shop bought fags which means he is fully aware of just how much he smokes and at £8 a packet running out halfway through day 1 was a bit of a shocker. He seems to be coping with 20 a day which is a vast reduction on what he was smoking. Hoping this time round he manages it. Not holding my breath though. The harder he trys to quit the more he seems to end up smoking.

Meanwhile the savings account I opened last year has paid out. Thusly proving that I can mange with £300 less income each month over a prolonged period, plus it means we've cleared the double glazing and have hit the point where the mortgage account bounces from red to black on a regular basis. Now need to curb my enthusiasm as the temptation to slurge is rather enticing, particularly given that internet shopping is likely to become a whole lot more expensive thanks to the Royal Mails new and confusing multi-tiered parcel project.

Off into the depths of the jungle go I, phase one of the giant weed cull involves finding either the secateurs or the flame thrower (which is way more fun).

Didn't make it outside. Ended up at a model show in Manchester instead. A model show which was surprisingly good. Not because it was a model show but because it was in the same venue as the Tatoo Teaparty which was truly amazing and had everything from caricature artists to indoor dodgems and an ice cream van. Throw in several hundred incredibly talented artists, much fabulous vintage clothing, aheck of a lot of fantastic handcrafted jewellery and much other stuff and you have an excellent afternoon out. DD2 was most fascinated by the myriad of tatooed people and the many tatoos in progress.

The OH enjoyed the model show, although not the hanging around waiting for us to finish building Mecanno models. Amazing how long you can kill with a box of Mecanno when you have to.

Came home and continued attempting to master colourwork. Still failing miserably.

Can't get this over my ankle which means I have to start over again for the third time. Briefly considered making it into a glove but its far too big for that.

It takes a heck of a lot to offend me. Fab idea though. Sadly it's supposed to be sock. Not that it fits anyone... and its too small to be a coffe cup holder although I feel the need to make one that is coffee cup sized. Genius idea!

Two wheelie bins later the garden still looks like a jungle depite having considerably fewer nettles and dandelions than it did when we started. Thoroughly enjoyed being outside. Sadly ignoring the house for a day means it looks like a bomb has hit, mostly because the DDs were being "helpful" and washed the cars and each other and then tripsed through the house with wet muddy clothes. Quite how they got that dirty doing something clean is a mystery.

and still I'm decluttering. This time by evicting the knackered armchair that houses the ironing pile. Half of it went to the tip yesterday, the rest is going today. Its made a huge difference to the room, even if I have bunged a smaller armchair there in its place, after all a gals gotta have somewhere to dump her laundry. On the brightside theres now one less chair in the dining room which means I can get into the cupboard easily.

Getting rid of stuff, especially big elderly manky bits of furniture is most definately improving life. The house is feeling more homely which is why I have an uncontrolable urge to try applique. Something I haven't done since high school. Nope, I've no idea why either. Next thing you know I'll have antimacassars on the chairs and lace doileys on the window sills. Must eat more choclate.
