You lot make me laugh!
OH is now well and truly bored..... so bored that he powered up the chop saw and set to work reducing pallets and scrap timber to kindling. The DDs decided to paint the bench and some fencing and themselves. Mostly themselves.... and I pruned some hedges, filled a couple of wheelie bins with weeds, mowed the lawn. knitted a third of a jumper sleeve and sloped off to spin for a wee while, already have half a bobbin full of fairly consistent stuff and am spending less time swearing loudly which is always good. Seems the landing is destined to be spinning HQ as its the only place in the house with carpet which is key to the wheel not sliding further and further away from me as I treadle.
Garden is much tidier. hoping he decideds to tackle some stuff in the house too although I suspect this is wishful thinking.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Plans for today invlove much more weeding and even more hedge trimming. Also need to relocate half a dozen slabs and a couple of dozen bricks in order to completely clear half the front garden. At that point I can level the heaps of earth, fill in the craters left by removing leylandi root balls (who on earth plants then 2' in front of a window?) and consider doing something to tart that particular spot up... a couple of tons of slate is currently my favourite option as the area in question is v. small and shaded, even the weedds struggle to grow there. Might come up with another idea but I suspect not.
Other plans in volve the quest for car insurance and house insurance as I have less than a week to sort both but for the mo. OH is asleep which means I can surf without objection which is most blissful. I've had enough conversations about hovercrafts and the pros and cons of brushless motors to last me a lifetime.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Filled my first bobbin! Have to do the same again and then ply before I have knitable wool. It went much faster than I thought thanks to being left alone to play all afternoon. Did manage to prune half the hedges and do some laundry too. Stripped the wheel down in order to lubricate the squeaking bits, polished the wood and then let DD2 loose. She had a fab time although struggled rather a lot with coarse fluff. The end result falls into the super chunky art yarn category but shes most impressed with it.
Discovered it was paydayBank account is v. healthy as several large cheques have yet to clear. Need to make sure I don't forget I've written them or I'll be v. deep in the doo doo. Also have to source birthday gifts for two 10 year ols who are having a joint Zumba party at the wekend. Must remember to take my trainers as mums can join in too. Bet the DDs are most unimpressed by that.
OH finally seems to be starting to enjoy his time off. Although the dumping ground that was formerly landrover land shows no signs of transforming from a dumping ground. Much less subtle hints are required.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Boring stuff done. Swapped my car insurance to a policy of exaclty the same price and excess as I was quoted with the addition of 3rd party coverage in another vehicle and £70 cashback. The pay with a debit card or cough up an extra fiver was a bit of a surprise. House insurance still to do, but I'm sick of looking at insurance quotes.
Sold another bunch of tat on E-bay, admitedly for under a fiver in total but its all being collected so I haven't got the hassle of packaging it up to post.
DD1 came home with a letter informing us we could send her on an "educational visit" to Disneyland Paris in a little under a months time for a mere £400 plus spending money. Fortunately the only children eligable are those who have passports which saved a heck of a lot of hassle.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Why do they give you so little time to prepare for these things. There must be a hell of a lot of parents at the moment, that can't magic up 400 just like that.
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

.... and then we picked OHs car up from the garage after a routine timing belt change..... £650 !!!!!!!g quid. Talk about a slap in the face. Thats almost a months salary just on car repairs. Most unimpressed.
Meanwhile stupid stupid E-bayers who can't be arsed to get in touch to arrange collection popped by to collect today only to find that we were out. Quelle surprise. Got an e-mail to say they were most disappointed they'd missed out on other items that they "desperately wanted" and should the other buyers drop out they'd like to buy them... and yet the items in questions only sold for £1.20.
Off to bury my head in a cloud of fluff and pretend the world beyond the spinning wheel doesn't exist until 7am.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -

Oh the joys of the bay of e. Had a message that i got around to reading (item had been won and message sent prior to this) in which the person turned out to be the winning bidder and had sent me a message just to let me know that they had bid on the item before reading the description and having read the description it was the wrong dimensions and so they just wanted to let me know if they won the item they wouldn't be paying for it as it wasn't what they wanted :mad:CC1:T £[STRIKE]2531[/STRIKE] £1460MORTGAGE OVERPAYMENTS: £10575.20 Target £12,100MF Date: [STRIKE]August 2042[/STRIKE] May 2035Declutter 1000 things by Xmas 2015! 53/10000
