OOooh thats expensive for coal.mind you havent checked how much we are paying as we have been buying a few bas every months to stock up for winter. Aga gone on a whole month earlier than usual:eek:
Torrential here too - why do idiot drivers come out in the rain. That dual carriageway that shall remain nameless that idiot drivers think is a six lane motorway, has been hell the last couple of days because of surface water - bad engineering if you ask me - and still the idiot drivers want to speed at 80 plus up your backside with maximum dazzle:mad:
Decided to take what we call the 'back road' from the metropolis to my village - mostly underwater and gushing torrent - nobody else about so great fun:D Stream running through village is a raging brown boiling canyon river almost with some pretty hacked of sheep looking on. Means on the other side of village the mad paddlers will be out blocking the lane by parking in passing places and flashing their backsides and worse whilst stripping off - wouldnt mind but some of them shouldnt be nude in public:eek:;)
Hope its subsiding with you MooBe the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Very brave or very stupid. Tis far too wet to contemplate that here the paint would be washed away before it left the brush.
Nothing exciting to report. Finally found DD2 a suitable reward for gainig an excellent school report last year thanks to a Tesco £9 off a £60 shop till spit and a £69 Kindle promotion. She is beyond gobsmacked. Seems there are some perks to OH quitting smoking. Although I've not noticed much of a difference it seems hes spent £45 less on baccy in the last fortnight than he normally would which makes me wonder just how much he was smoking. Theres me thinking he was getting through 100g of rolling baccy a week. Turns out it was more like 150g sometimes 200g. No wonder it felt like his head was permanently in the garden.
Tidying up is progressingly slowly. More stuff chucked out. Desk is vaguely clearer than it was. Need to tackle the cupboard under the stairs again and order a new belt for the vacuum.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -

You mean the A road that shall remain nameless but which features on the jam headlines eachand every morning thanks to a broken down lorry on the unpronouncable hill isn't a 6 lane super highway... really..... and the driving with your headlights set to full beam on a dark evening thing... well I thought that was a requirement of driving in Wales..... don't get me started on the dog walking eejot who intentionally shines his torch in your eyes on a blind bend. I've started leaving work later to make sure hes further up the road when I pass him because at least them I'm going in a straight line when I'm temporarily blinded.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -

Yes that roadIn addition to the above its a requirement that you NEVER use indicators at a roundabout, 'park' 8ft behind the line at a junction and crane your head round to see if any traffic is coming and then slam on the brakes when you realise you are driving into the path of a huge Hungarian wagon, have no sense of how wide your oversized gas guzzler is and so block the lanes every morning because you cant reverse it either and then take up 2 parking spaces up at T*sco with same said vehicle............... Do I have a been in my bonnet about this? No a whole bl00dy hive:D And I am sorry to say most of the offenders of the above are women - women are not bad drivers but its this lot ^^^ that give women drivers a bad name. Ooooh sorry rant over:o

Aaah but at least if they're annoying you they're not driving me round the bend unlike the Polish truck drivers with their Tom Toms. Just because Tom Tom says you can take a Fiat Punto down the 1:12 hill with the hair pin bend with the very low railway bridge (also on the 1:12 slope) does not mean your articulated lorry will fit through. Thats what the pretty picture of the bridge with the numbers on by the sign with more numbers on in a big red triangle mean.... and yet one morning in two the road is blocked by an articulated lorry which is attempting to reverse up the narrow windy road having realised that this is an issue only to find that his attempts to reverse are hindered by the fact the road is tightly bendy, very narrow and rather steep.
Mind you the article from Wednesdays roll over on the other superhighway sums it up. Bearing in mind that the rain was torrential and you'd have been marginally dryer standing fully clothed in the shower than you would being outdoors for the same length of time..... the driver was quoted in the local on-line DIY rag as saying he thought the crash was “caused due to a blocked drain causing the road to flood”. Really. Its amazing that every other car managed to stay upright then.
Moving swiftly onwards my visit to the local torture chamber was of shorter duration than normal, seems there are some perks to having gum surgery after all. The hygenist isn't allowed to prod and poke around that bit of my mouth for an entire year.
Boredom has set in. Its still soding raining. Spent the day doing housework. Humph. Postie did bring a lovely squooshy bag of alpacca fluff though so hopefully once the OH goes back to work I'll be able to play with that in peace. He did go in for an entire day yesterday and returned with news that the very long course he has to attend urgently in order to qualify by February has now been delayed until February.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
OH seems to be trying to quit smoking this time round, hes managed three days of noticably reduced intake so far. Having been through sthis several times before I won't get excited about it until he reaches the 2 week stage.
More tat listed on E-bay. 30 things finishing overthe weekend. Not looking forward to packaging it all up. Listed 3 buy it nows in excess of £20 each. Had an offer of a fiver for one including the £4 postage. Humph.
Much more tidying, chucking and cleaning achieved. Am definately on a roll. Still waiting for OH to take tat to the shed it seems to be going in a very slow trickle.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Still raining *sigh* On the brightside 70% of the E-bay tat shifted making me £50 richer and also unloading two very large boxes from the dumping ground which has unearthed a bit more floor. Have taken to escorting a few small bits down the shed each time I take OH a cuppa in the hopes of speeding things up a bit.
Finally cast off the elf coat having got totally and utterly bored of it. Grafted the hood seam yesterday, all that remains is to sew in the last three ends and its finally finished after almost three months which co-incided nicely with a request from the village shop for more hideous tea cosys. Not that I want to knit hideous tea cosys but it gets rid of some yarn and generates some income too.
Transformed a set of OHs old overalls into a dust jacket after he melted another jumper whilst playing with his new toy. Saved buying one and firmly killed all ideas of making anything using a sewing machine, no matter how simple. I haven't got the patience.
Keep being tempted by fabulous things but having to remind myself that (1) I'm skint and its a long way until payday (2) more stuff = more tat to shove around which defeats the whole tidying up thing and (3) I already have lots of nice stuff I just have to unearth it from its hidey hole.... and so with that in mind I rearranged the yarn cupboard (which is now two cupboards) and cleared out the cupboard under the staris. Again. Threw out a dot matrix printer.... yes yes I know it should have been disposed of years and years ago.
Plans for today are minimalistic and involve treading water at work in the hopes that the relief cleaner returns at the end of her current sick note although I'm not holding my breath.... but I am well and truly sick of trying to cram an extra 3 hours work into a 6 hour day and still leave on time. Its not happening which is cuting down on the time I get with the demonic daughters who are most unimpressed.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
I have a head full of snot. It's liable to explode at any moment. And so rather than sitting around feeling sorry for myself I've done a whole lot of housework and the place is sparkling (as long as you don't look up at the giant cobwebs adorning each and every ceiling). Spent the afternoon vegged on the sofa with a cheesy novel and a giant bag of crisps. Felt much better until I got to work and found that the relief cleaner is off for another fortnight. Meh.
OH was v. busy pottering in the shed for the vast majority of yesterday so I escorted a whole load of tat to the other sheds. Manged to relocate the cat litter tray to the dumping ground. Hopefully that will stop the smell leaching its way through the house. Plan to shift a whole lot more tat today and then perhaps I'll be able to get the table out of the loft and divert homeworking children away from the PC desk.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
