New people fins so far have worked with some before including person in charge - all my fears of whom have so far come to fruition:eek:. Had to have a quiet word that if they carry in the same vein there will be dissent in the ranks.
Great facilities but bereft of any resources................hmmmmm And I mean bereft.
Extended journey no too bad put on about 10 -15 mins on each journey
Tomorrow will be interesting.........Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

It is officially unofficially Christmas in the moo household. Not only are we the roud owners of a swanky spinning wheel but it came with carders (spiky brushes for making fleece behave), a nostepine (giant plant pot dibber used for winding wool in balls in place of a loo roll tube) , a niddy noddy (big stick with knobbly bits for winding skeins once spun) and a huge bag of fluffy stuff which was rather rapidly depeleted after a rather frustrating afternoon during which it was revealed that I have all the co-ordination of a chimpanzee whilst DD2 s spinning is at least identifiable as a primative form of yarn.
Spent the evening sitting in front of the telly box attempting to make the wheel spin at a constant speed in one direction which is way harder than you think. Not helped by a small child who kept sniggering and helpfully pointing out the many many errors of my ways. Will have another play whilst shes at school.
Came home via the school shop where I discovered prices had escalated quite considerably since last year. £80 later both oiks have new footwear. Hope thats an experience I don't have to repeat for quite some time.
Spent the evening finishing the magazine article and have submitted that at long last. Suspect there will be a fair wait before I hear anything back. Not that I'm in any rush to do any rewrites.
Sold the duff washing machine for almost £70. Still have 2 auctions to go but didn't get round to listing anything else. Must try harder next time.
Plans for today involve a dishwasher, a miniscule amount of housework and as much time as I can reasonably get away with aquainting myself with the new wheel. OH is due home super early today so need to make sure I get this done before I get roped into fitting the burglar alarm. After that I won't get much opportunity for quite some time.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -

I am pretty sure I wouldn't have the patience for spinning! Sounds very challenging though
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

It turns out spinning is so much easier without an audience. Managed to spin a passable elngth of yarn albeit a very short one. At least I know where I was going wrong.
Day 1 of OHs v. long vacation commences. Hate to think what hes dreamt up to keep himself occupied. Will be keeping myself very busy for the next few weeks to preserve my sanity. Much dog walking is on the horizon, just with the weather forecast wasn't gusting winds and torrential downpours.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
OH is bored already. The house alarm is up and running after a few minor blips involving the house being plunged into darkness everytime he plugged it in and the inadvertent triggering of it on more than one occassion. It seems "home" does not mean we're at home don't warble but more we are at home warble only if one of us dares to leave or let the cat out or the dog out..... have now reprogrammed it so that it doesn't happen again.
Since almost completing that task the OH has purchased guttering to fit to the sheds one of which has been gutterless for a decade. Spurred on by this and a desire to keep out of his way I've listed more tat on flea bay. I also managed to spend a record 4 hours hiding out at knitting group and have done a fair amount of housework too.
Spent the morning attempting to reprogramme the acess code for the electronic door locks at school. Suceeded in locking them so that no one could get in or out and then doing something that meant each person who entered the building had the option to reprogramme the key pad. After 45 minutes of messing about I resorted to the factory reset option and started again.
Next on the agenda was a surprise visit from Roland (formerly an irritating childrens tv character with a sidekick named Kevin) who was spotted legging it across the top of the neighbours fence before taking a flying leap into their garden. Half hoping we catch him but equally not looking forward to emptying the trap if we do.
Plans for today involve much laundry, a spot of washing up and the hunt for car insurance and house insurance. Fun, fun, fun.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -

Let me tell you what happened when my Dad tried to rid his garden of Rattus rattus (sub. species "sneakyus devilus")....
The parents live in a lovely house in a little country village. It's on the edge of the village, so has farmland across the road. You're going to get rats. Nevertheless, father decided that they weren't going to be allowed in his garden. So he bought a trap. A humane trap. The one with the little door that closes after the pest has got in. (Don't ask. I don't know what he was planning to do with a live, annoyed rat either....)
Anyway, I called round one day and we were all sat in the garden when I noticed the aforementioned trap sitting on its end down the side of the BBQ.
"Oh", I said, all innocent like, "have you given up on the trap, then?".
The glowering look that shot my way and my mother's stifled giggles should have warned me...:)
Apparently, the trap had been extremely successful. Every night for a week. Except all he'd caught was a hedgehog. The same one, every night for a week. Mum said they could tell by a small bald patch in its prickles. Sensible animal....it's found free B+B. It gets some grub, a night's sleep protected from the other nasties and then let out in the morning....not stupid, that hedgehog :rotfl:
Here's hoping your trapping will be slightly more effective :T0 -
We have had rats in the attic - in fact still get them from time to time Council vermin man useless with his info/advice. Very old house with fields all around and an underground stream running through the garden just doesnt help........ so when we hear them is liberal amounts of poison in the attic I'm afraid and regular removal of bodies. They did have a bl00dy cheek though to make a nest in the empty bucket ( yes we bought a very large bucket of poison!) with our fancy attic insulation as a cosy liner...just taking the p!ss then which meant war as far as my OH was concerned so we have a couple of traps too - sorry animal lovers there is nothing humane in how we deal with it all!Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Pah! Humane is a joke with rodents - I really hate to kill anything, but after the mice in my last house not only ate all the Christmas choccie I'd bought as gifts, but also the 'humane' trap I'd got to help move them on, it was onto the real traps..... horrid though....0
