Spent the vast majority of my free time yesterday gardening, much to the chooks delight. Cleared the winter weeds from two of the veggie beds. Should really think about planting stuff in the not too distant future. Surprised to find a couple of winter greens are still hanging in there. Thats this weeks veggies sorted. Rhubarb is just startiung to break through, need to finish whats left of last years crop in order to make space for this years in freezer and cupboards. Suspect it will take another week to weed the rest of the garden but it always looks great afterwards, for about a fortnight before the weeds go mad.

    Hello Moo

I had a really bad night last night, couldn't sleep for ages, so I gave in on the trying and read your diary. I love it! No, it didn't send me back to sleep, it's so very entertaining, I like your writing style.

I'm not going to lurk, but dive straight in if that's okay with you? All subscribed and waiting for the next posting...

mine muttered once about the same - well he did build his own shed when he was 'between jobs' a few years ago and we compromised and bought a trailer tent for family hols. The tent has saved us lots of money and we have had some great times away in it so has paid for itself and now the sodding shed has solar panels on its now making money - so some mutterings do have silver linings ;)

I suppose I should admit that we have a trailer tent, a huge one, and two other tents but the OH still feels the need to cram us all in a tin can slightly smaller than the average en suite and call it a holiday. Most bizarre, especially since he doesn't actually like camping.

Anyhow enough of all that for I have news of the gobsmacking kind. I am officially a published page three girl and thats an awesome thing to be able to announce in the staff meeting of a church school. Tis one of the few times I've known my boss to be speechless. I have a preview copy of the doggy brochure and a letter informing me that the hairballs will be featured in a couple of the broadsheets in the not too distant future.

Compared to that the rest of my day was mundane beyond belief.

ps. Hello Piq! Hows your writing going?

    Hey Moo,

So delighted you are getting so close to your df target and hope you manage to keep your clicky finger under control until it happens (and your OH of course!)

I mentioned before about my alcofrolic boyfriend and the possibility of rehab. Amazingly (although sadly) he has just hit rock bottom and asked for help and I got him into a place in St Leonards on Sea that looks very promising - even though he will be there for a minimum of 3 months. I guess it would be naive to think that 20 years of wrong doing could be repaired in a couple of weeks!

Anyway, while he is away, I want to knit him a truly beautiful Arran sweater that feels wonderful and won't shrivel up in the first wash. Can you please point me in the right direction? I have looked on-line but am confused with the multitude of wools and patterns and am sure that you will be able to give me a shortcut. I knitted one about 20 years ago so am not worried from the skills point of view - I have 3 months after all!

    All the best,

    All the best,

In a very warped way I'm glad your boyfriend has hit rock bottom. Hope it works out for him.

Ravelry has 2000 aran patterns, although rather annoyingly that includes rather a lot not really suited to chaps as you can't search by sex. For wool I'd try Deramores using the code Rav2012 to get a 10% discount. Its a good starting point. YOu can sometimes find the wool cheaper elsewhere though.

Congratulations!!!! That is amazing news, well done! :T

Page three, no less....so impressed...perhaps if you didn't mention the hairballs :rotfl:ah well, doesn't matter, I'll bet you're glamorous too.

Let me know when and where the article will be published, I'd love to read it, hairballs and all!

Its payday which is jolly good because my current account was down to single figures, it has been in the black for the entire month which is jolly good although it was a very close call on more than one occassion.

Had the day from hell yesterday. Arrived at work to a blocked urinal, the sort you can only unblock with power tools which means spending an hour dismantling the entire thing only to find it won't go back together again, no matter what you do, mostly because once yopu've drilled out rivets theres no way of reattaching the thing without using bigger rivets which of course we didn't have. Moved swiftly on ot a leaking sink which wasn't leaking, the darlings had had a water fight but since it was the same bathroom they managed to unscrew a tap from on Tuesday someone assumed that my DIY was carp (a reasonable assumption) and has arranged for a proper plumber to call today. Not that theres anything for him to do... and then someone else sat on a radiator which parted company with the plasterboard wall it was attached to. The somebone in question being a rather substantial adult. And finally a toilet was reported as filling slowly on account of some child using the cistern as a rubish bin. Came home and leapt in the shower. Rather glad to have reached the end of that particular day.

Full of cold so have no enthusiasm for anything. OH is attempting to quit smoking so is considerably mnore explosive than normal. Decided the only sensible thing to do was to keep out of his way which I did remarkably well by spending the afternoon being buffeted about by the wind on top of Hope Mountain which has most excellent views, a pair of Kestrels and a total absence of people making it the perfect place for a ramble with the hairball. Of course I got totally and utterly lost in my attempt to get home and ended up somewhere totally unpronouncable on a single track lane miles from anywhere on the wrong side of the mountain but it was a fabulous walk.... even if I was very late for work. Again.

Anotehr day, another pile of shoite to wade through. Thats assuming I can get through the DDs bedroom doors.

Today is metaphorical pull a rabbit out of a hat day which sees me whipping up the Tudor Costume I'd forgotten all about by 7:30am. No pressure then.

Further plans for the day involve much washing and even more tidying up. Same old same old.
