Another day, another puking kid. Fortunately not one of mine but I suspect its only a matter of time.

House is minging. Sun is shining. Hound and I are off to the park. Will be spending the afternoon franticaly cleaning although not as frantically as I will on Saturday just before OHs friend arrives. Making the most of the weather while its glorious. Seems daft not to.

Before I leg it I'm going to bung the washing on the line and wash up so at least I'll have made a start on the housework. OH v. haelpfully did the ironing. It was that or go to work in a screwed up shirt.... mind you if he didn't leave them lying around they'd have been done when I did everything else.

Trying v. hard not to spend any money. Have £140 in the bank and £55 in my wallet to last until payday. Need to pay for 2x riding lessons now that DD2 has finally recovered enough to ride, also have £50 of direct debits due and £30 for football to pay as well as a cheque still to clear for this weeks school dinners. Tis not unrealistic providing I behave myself.

  • I have a moral dilemma, with which I'd like some support, please, moo-fans.

It's not a mural dilemma, as my phone's "predictive" tried to suggest.

My ebay auctions are going well, washing machine has one bidder at the £40 starting price, 20 watchers, but I've been offered £120 cash. Anyone any strong views on whether to let the auction run (my instinct) or sell to the cash buyer (who contacted me through ebay)?

Thanks, and happy Friday to everyone!

Part of me thinks I would take the money and run :D

Have you looked to see if any others have sold and how much for? It would give you an idea if the offer is a good one or if the 20 watchers are likely to push it up that far.

I am not sure if you can withdraw a sale once you have a bidder though so you may need someone who knows eBay better than me.

You can withdraw a sale once bid made but it dont look good on your records with Eb*Y. I have seen listings for big things like cars and caravans saying they reserve the right to withdraw from sale as item advertised elsewhere - not sure if this legal or cuts any ice with Eb*y. Person contacting you through Eb*y and offering cash is acting totally against Eb*y rules and really should be reported. I would say beware of scammers and also possible eb*y sting ( has been known:eek:) and let the auction run!

  • I'm with you - I'll let the auction run (and promise not to be upset if it sells for less than the cash offer!). Thanks!

I'd be of the attitude that £120 cash is the equivalent of £132 in E-bay bids before fees. Yes you could get more at auction but equally you could get a lot less. How much were you hoping for when you listed it and how long does the auction have to run? I'd troll through the completed listings and see what similar machines in your area sold for but unless you have a Bosch or a Miele I'd be v. tempted to take the money and run.... on the proviso that the machine is collected before the auction enters the last 24 hours and I wouldn't cancel the auction until its gone.

  • 'Tis indeed a Bosch, but am sticking with my moral principles with just under 48 hours to go and nearly 30 watchers. At least I've not got the normal fretting that it'll go for 99p as I refused to pay the listing fees - thanks to the free listing weekend which was well-timed for once!

Whooo hooooo its the weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and its choc full of stuff starting with a quick dump and run at the Country market, whirling on to riding lessons via the gas guzzler feeding station because I forgot to go last week and am running on fumes, back to the Country Market, home for a spot of mad panic cleaning, back tot he stables to collect DD1, the mass feeding of the hungry hordes folowed by an evening of relaxation prior to the arrival of OHs friend and the worlds most destructive dog. I forsee many long walks in the not too distant future which is probably just as well as end of winter bloat has crept up on me and the wasitband of my jeans are a little snug. Mind you I have had a cake or two every day for the past couple of months so its not really any surprise.

Need to rustle up a tudor costume capable of withstanding two days use and DD1 has a huge pile of homework to slog through. And then theres the laundry pile which is on the verge of launching an escape attempt from the top of the armchair. Fun, fun, fun.

Can you update the listing to £120 buy it now and tell the person to do that. They can then do Cash on Collection and all morals stay intact and it's done properly through eBay with paypal fees.

I did that with a bike and a chair (cash on collection) and I promise it's totally legit if they'll let you update the listing.

I completely respect your decision to remain with morals. Particularly as you don't know the person coming round to collect or have any of their personal details to fall back on.

Would incur extra fees changing to BIN and with 30 watchers let it run with your morals and credibility with Eb*y intact:) BTW let us kow how you get on I will apologise now if you only get £50 for it:eek:
