Is I Pad really worth it?

I agree. Steve Jobbs would probably be telling us that we're holding it wrong!0

I had a play with the xoom and the Iconia. Both good tablets. Trouble is, the 32Gb Iconia runs Win 7, but still has 1Gb LESS storage available than the 16Gb Android version.
If you can either download or obtain a genuine set of recovery DVDs for the Android-based model, then you can upgrade the 32Gb model (and free-up a Win 7 coa for use when upgrading a Vista PC)
One thing that did surprise me was to find a video on Youtube from O'Rielly (the people who write books on programming) about how much easier it is to create advanced apps for Android in comparison with IOS.
Still cannot justify £400 for a tablet though.Never Knowingly Understood.

I bought my 64gb 3g ipad 2 on launch day and I really can't see me being without a tablet, its just just so easy. I do have an iphone so i guess i am a bit biased towards apple products but imo they are just superior. The non sd card issue for me is irrelevant as i use cloud storage anywyay, not having flash isnt a biggie either since the majority of websites i use dont use flash and from what ive read it doesnt run too well anyway. The apps for me are one of the best aspects of ios over android, so much more quality even if i have to spend a couple of quid. Yes there are other tablets out there with better specs, yes there are ones that are cheaper. But for me the build quality, how everything works and having the peace of mind that if anything goes wrong there is one of the best customer services in the market avalibaale to me really makes it worth it0

We had 3 laptops, a desktop and no Apple products - I was fairly sceptical about the Jesus phone and the cult of Jobs. Bought an iPad 1 on a whim and it's definitely the sofa surfing device of choice now. Wife has an Android phone and would still have an iPad again.
YMMV.0 -
The iPad hasn't got enough storage to be anything other than a toy and a frippery.
The UI is quite nice, but £££ for a game machine and web browser is a heck of a lot.
The size of the thing is pretty much spot-on, and it is a nice piece of kit.
But I was thinking the other day that the iPhone/iPad user interface is starting to look a bit "yesterday".
That said, the Blackberry thing is brain-dead; I mean, why did they make it essential to pair with a phone??? I was in an airport the other day with time to kill, and I went into the BB shop but didn't even bother to check out their unit.
And the others just seem to be also-rans.
And the price!!!0 -
I dont get why the memory is always an issue. A tablet isnt supposed to have as much memory as a netbook because its supposed to be as portable as possible with the best battery life possible. Plus the counter argument about being able to put microsd cards into an android tablet is crazy imo. The max avaliable is 32gb anyway0

Without decent on-board storage, you are tied to a wireless networked datastore, which is impractical (you can't carry it around with you) or expensive (download bandwidth).
I would like to store large numbers of documents, a load of music, and some movies; I reckon that is 1TB or more.
So yes, the tablet is more portable, but the current technology limits its usefulness, and I'll wait until the product suits my needs.
Certainly, 32 grambits is insufficient; it wouldn't even hold my music library and a few apps.0 -

Is a phone a valid comparison with a tablet? There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.

Personally, I wouldn't use a tablet or a laptop for music - far too many compromises. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
