OK, i have a good laptop and phone so an IPad would just be for leisure. But would it just be another gadget to put in the wardrobe along with many others. I am unfortunately a bit of a pushover when it comes to gadgets so I dont really want to go into a store & ask as I know I will end up buying one.
Opinions please?

Hmmm - well for the price of a top-end iPad, I just bought an i7 17.3" 1920x1080 resolution laptop which will out-power the iPad probably about 18 times over - although it is (by design) bigger (and heavier!) 'worth it' is so subjective.

Just got to decide what are you going to use it for 90% of the time.

Very subjective. I think they both do things that the other cannot do. I can take my ipad into places I can't take my desktop or comfortably take my laptop.

I think all the tablets - iPad, the HP one, Android, etc. are a new type of device; one that sits alongside laptops and desktops rather than in place of them.

If you are on here asking if it is worth it then surely, in your heart of hearts, you realise you do not really need one!!

Personally I am going to buy an android tab soon, mainly to take on holiday and to use out on the road.

    My point precisely!

Personally, though, I think slates are a bit 'meh' - my phone does pretty much everything they do, but smaller, and my lappy does serious desktop-replacement crunching on the road. Why have something I can't carry in my pocket but can't do any serious work on either - it seems to combine the limitations of both form-factors to me!

When my husband offered to get me one last year for my birthday, I didn't know whether to say yes or not - cos I wasn't sure I'd use it. It took a couple of weeks but now I use it every day.

Mainly for internet - so much easier to hold than a laptop. But I also use it as an e-reader (Kindle app), for creating photo albums (with an Eye-Fi card). I keep my To Do lists on it. I have films on it for the kids to watch if we go away. And not to mention loads of games! I use it as a Remote with the Airport Express to play music. I do email.

I'd hate to be without it now!

I would never have bought an iPad, very expensive.
    Then I won one.
Now, I couldn't live without one and so when it gets old/battered, I'd be looking to buy a replacement (iPad, or most likely, an Android tablet).

Great gadget, because of it's "pick up and go" nature

I have a laptop and an iPad and the iPad wins for its travelability. It's got a mass of books on there (more than I have room for), all my music, notes on things I've seen/heard, pictures I want to keep close to me, my email for when I travel, games for when I get bored, presentations for when I need to do them, etc etc.

Yeah, mine is only a wi-fi one but since it's either used at home as an e-reader or on travel as an e-reader/iPod its perfect for me. And for taking notes it is brilliant with its little keyboard thingum. It's also at least half the weight of my laptop, easier to move, has a longer charge and is just...wow.

P.S. Have heard the Blackberry pad thing isn't so good....and that RIM's share price has dropped cos of the bad sales...I think the iPad is still out on top

Concept is good, though I would wait till they get lighter and cheaper and can be read in sunlight like my old Nokia phone screen can be.

On the basis of comparing it with one of the least impressive competitors?
There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.
In every town, in every state. In every house and every gate.
Wth every precious smile you make. And every act of kindness.
