    Ipad..? overhyped overpriced toy.

The latop is and will be for the foreseeable future, the tool of choice.

They are cheaper and more useful than the ipad.

If you must buy a pad product, there are plenty of better spec'd cheaper alternatives.

    Check the new blackberry product.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

A netbook without a keyboard but 3 times the price, i just don't see the attraction with the ipad.

You do know that the playbook is about the same price as an iPad, but it's essentially crippled unless you own a blackberry mobile?

Personally I was tempted to get one of the android tablets since I already have an android mobile but when it comes to tablet apps, the ipad still wins out no matter that the specs on other tablets are far superiour.

Just think of the iPad as an oversized iPod touch.

Apps, games, music videos and films are much better on the iPad's larger screen as the iPod does your eyes in after viewing for a bit.

Being able to pick it up and play / on the web in seconds is great rather than booting up a computer. The 10 hr battery life is great.

Apps/games are 69p+ along with some freebies.

The web experience is a let down by not having flash and some alternative browsers (via app store) still have their limitations with flash.

You can fill it up rather quickly as only up to 64gb but you can delete and redownload purchases from the iclouds or transfer from your iTunes on your computer.
Getting stuff on/off is a pain with no card slots or USB.

It excites in several ways and disappoints in others and that's really what most tablets are about in the early days. An Android or Rim don't have the apps that Apple have but maybe one day. Future proof is an issue with some cheaper tabs.
  • iPads are good - especially for travel etc but it doesn't quite fit for me. I have a laptop and a smartphone with a large screen (Desire HD) so the Ipad fits somewhere in the middle.

If I didn't have either the laptop or smartphone I'd probably get an Ipad but as things stand I'm not sure I can justify the outlay on yet another computing platform when the devices I have already meet my needs.

The new Blackberry product? You can not be serious.

You claim a laptop is more useful, then go on to recommend a tablet that is less useful than an Ipad :T

My Ipad is more useful than a laptop in many ways.

    Strange logic.

I agree with "I luv Cats" (except the cat bit) regarding tablet. As said, the tablet is the handy thing, mine lives in the living room normally where I use it to browse the net while 'er indoors is watching other TV stuff. Basic utilities on board but the main feature/use is video playback. It is the ideal one-person screen size.

I own a full set of IT! Smartphone, mp3 player(s), small-screen 30GB media player, tablet, netbook, laptop and desktop. The only Apple product is one of the MP3 players, an I-pod Touch 64 GB as it does lead the field (IMHO) in this field therefore I pay the Apple price. With this lot, I can throw the appropriate bits in my hand baggage for work/play as required.

I went for an Archos 101 (Android) tablet as they are pretty focused in media and sure enough, it plays everything I throw at it via 16 GB microSD cards (how can you live without a card slot)? Why another media device you may ask - the small media player is fussy what files it accepts and I have to convert formats for it - so it's gone out of favour.

I really really like my Ipad and I think it is better than its competitors still (although bizarrely I prefer Android on my phone as opposed to Iphone/iOS).

However, if the Gods came one day and took away the iPad I would not miss it as much as my laptop or mobile phone.

If you can afford it, it is a brilliant piece of technology and very useful. If you have to choose between this and a laptop, I'd get a laptop.

I'm wavering. Been to the Apple shop today and had a play around with one. Also done a search on the Applestore for the range of Apps. I was quite impressed. Tesco are selling them for £329 with double clubccard points, so it might just sway me.
