This is what I received this morning, Has anyone else received an email with the WRONG name. My names is Miss Palmer, NOT Mr Harper. Sooooo confussed!! :rotfl:

    Thats veryyyy strange!

My email addressed me only by my first name which is weird too.

I wonder if they have done this by 'hand' and have worked through a list of customer effected just copying their names over from a spreadsheet?

It would explain why they are not answering emails (it would take a while to do this for every customer) it would also explain why some people recieved the email last night while others are only just getting it now and finally it could explain why the wrong name is on your email?
    :)

I just logged into my internet banking and, sorry to rehash, this happened to me aswell on the 13th, refunded on the 14th. Someone in this thread mentioned a Travelodge website hack - Only two weeks ago HSBC rang me to tell me they had reason to believe my card details had been cloned and fraud would take place on my account. I had to cancel my card and get a new one. I don't know if the two are related.

I suppose they'll say they keep card details in case you cause damage to the rooms and they need to charge you for it. :( :undecided :naughty:
  • I've also had money taken out of my account, for a room I apparently reserved on the 23rd April (?????????) I've very annoyed, to put it lightly. Contacted my bank who are giving me a temporary refund and I need to set up a dispute with travelodge, or the money could be taken again !! Have contacted travelodge by email, as trying to get through to them on the phone was useless.

:(I’m shocked to have just checked my bank account & have noticed that Duplicate Payments have been taken by Travelodge on the 14thJuly, and then credited me back to me on the 15Th July.

This has caused me to go overdrawn on that day 14th, I have not authorised these payments to take place and I’m at a loss on how this can ever happen!!

This is totally unacceptable to me & as a consequence of something out of my control that I went overdrawn on that day, I'm using travelodge & have booked 45 days with them because my work place is too far to travel too everyday, i have lost all confidence in travelodge and worry about this happening again.

I have spoken to my bank who make it clear that if you have used travelodge before and it is a duplicate payment, then they have 30 days to credit you back the money and bank charges are for travelodge to pay back, this could happen again & again which worries me & you cannot stop it from happening, if it is a company you have not used before and they just take money off you then that is fraudulent, but because you have used and know this company it isn't,I still think that a company who takes money off you without your Knowledge is theft in my eyes.

I have not received any comunication from travelodge from emails or phone calls, I think a letter should be sent out to all those effected with a good will guesture to give some confidence back, I wonder how many people have been effected by these duplicated payments?:(
  • Just checked my bank account. Made the booking in the last sale and the payment was duplicated on 14 July, but was also credited back to me on the same day.
From Starrystarrynight to Starrystarrynight1 and now I'm back...don't have a clue how!

    Gentle folks,

I think that there is a tad of over-reaction here.

Travelodge or their allied concerns have mucked up. They have sent emails to all peeps concerned.
They have apologised. They have sent the money back. They have asked peeps who have incurred charges to contact them. I feel one hundred per cent that they will reimburse any such bank charges.

    We all make mistakes.

Many thanks to the OP for raising this matter.

    Unfortunately thats not entirely correct.

I was affected by this, and originally cancelled my card assuming fraud. It's taken up until today to get a new card sorted out.

Then there was the phone calls and confusion, since I couldn't get in touch with travelodge.

I also have not received any emails from travelodge (Nor in my junk mail), and when I phoned up, the lady was very unapologetic.

The email I sent through to Travelodge to try and get an explanation also got ignored.

I understand this doesn't affect many people, but for those it did, I don't feel it was handled correctly in my case.

And the amount of disruption it causes to the people affected, I think we aren't over-reacting, but we have to raise the point with travelodge.

The mistake I don't particular mind, things happen, but the way they tried to silently deal with it to hope that no one noticed caused more confusion.
  • Is anybody still awaiting a refund?

I had a duplicate payment for Travelodge go out of my bank on the 13th July for £71. When eventually i found a number and called on Saturday the guy i spoke to knew all about it, he said that any bookings made in May have been wrongly duplicated again and that the money should have already been refunded, however wait until Monday and see if it reappears.
Well it's still not back and when i went to the web site tonight to send an e-mail in the drop down box that asks what your query is about the first option it gives you is 'duplicate payment made on the 13th'.
I will phone again tomorrow but don't want to keep phoning because it cost 10p per minute and then that will start adding up.:(
