    Totally agree NIM :)

I have to go on a course for 3 days next week in Leeds, the company pool cars are booked out so they've got me a hire car. Just read the confirmation e-mail and I have to refuel before returning it using my own money and then claim it back on expenses, so that'll be about £50 since I doubt they'll have hired a nice little 1.2 economical car like mine, then I have to pay for parking and claim it back, I had a look yesterday to find the closest secure car park and it'll cost me £12 a day so that's another £36. I don't have that kind of money to spend on stinking work stuff to then wait for them to pay it back in their own sweet time, especially so close to OH's birthday and our honeymoon! :(

ETA: I was wondering where your OH was going to live CMD, the flat sounds ideal and who doesn't love a project?!

Thanks Wendz. People can call me stupid etc for having debt. I don't mind that, I was stupid. But when anyone queries that my child will miss out that makes my hackles rise! I'm sure you will be the exact same with Poppy!

I agree, that would make me really angry too.

Just saw the bit you and Birdie were putting about parents getting by. My Mum told me recently that she coudln't always afford new babygrows so would just cut the feet off them haha.

My work really are lovely, was really worried they'd say no. Makes me feel so much better about going back to work.

 about the expenses Birdie, I don't think they take into account people don't always have money spare.

Very glad for the improved working patterns Wendz and CMD, must be a huge relief to you both.

Moved some ebay money into my challenge account last night - but forgot to write down how much so can't update my ticker till later. A lot of me feels guilty that this money was supposed to go towards paying off our debt and instead we've used it to finish the house, however an even biger part of me says we were sensible and held off for a year, but enough is enough and everyone deserves somewhere to sit down after 12 hours out the house. Oh well, next £10k or so will be going towards the debt.

Currency sale on dollars at 11am today, hoping to get our travel spending money organised, but if its not the best deal I'll just organise it this evening.

Had a MS last night and the very stroppy fishmonger lady had just reduced all the fish, so we ended up getting about 10 packs of fish (most of which we haven't heard of) for £2. We got some pouting I think it was which we use a lot for 19p when it would usually be around £2, there were loads of mackerel and sardines for 9p for 3 but we don't eat those, but we took a risk with some fish that looked normal but we didn't recognise the names of, and then some really random skate wings as they were £3ish each down to 15p so we thought they must be good for something! Sadly there was no reduced fruit so we ended up stopping at Tesco as well, and NIM followed a bloke around while he reduced everything down to 75% off and we got 3 packs of strawberries and some veg for soup. Very good stock up for the money. NIM put all the food away after we got home and the strawberries ended up in the freezer, at first I thought he was a muppet then I realised his mistake showed me you can in fact freeze strawberries, so next time we see some reduced I'll grab them all as I can just chuck them in from frozen. Boring food post I know but I was very impressed by our haul last night.

I can't beleive its been 6 months Birdie it seems like a few weeks ago. Then again I feel like our wedding was decades ago not a year, time's playing tricks on me I think.

I think it will be a huge relief for you to finish the house Dinah. Then you can really concentrate on paying off the debts.

Looking forward to it...had a slight mishap fitting the new washer. FIL and I got everything sorted and put it in all fine dandy. Went to run it last night and as I pushed the start button I got a horrible mental image of a cold water tap, behind the machine (which is a b****r to get out), set firmly in the off position :(
This was 6 months out of date so I've changed it.

I agree you deserve to sit down Dinah! I think finishing the house will make you feel a lot better.

The food haul sounds fab. Always great to get some bargains.

I can't wait for the house to be finished, be lovely to come home and just relax. Or to come downstairs from a bath and not have to climb over mountains of tools. Hopefully NIM will find the garage key tonight so we can get in there, clear some space and photograph some bits we want to sell - he needs to get in there to firstly get his cycle helmet, and secondly clear some room for the chest freezer which arrives at the weekend. Also I have a hall full of wine which could do with going on the rack in the garage. I know our garage is full of stuff but for the life of me I can't work out exactly what, so it will be good to get in there again.

ETA: We still have a shed full of stuff at mum and dads too - I think a lot of it can be sold though as we've done without it about 3 years at this point.

Sig update. It's a bit scary as actually that's not all our debt... we have a barker and stonehouse loan too AND the car loan from work. And don't even get me started on student loan (but that doesn't count as if they can't be bothered to tell me what I owe to the nearest 18 months its not real money). I guess I should put the B & S loan in there too. Many sad smiley faces here. At least its all 0% except for the OD.

It's great that so much of it is on 0%. Try not to worry too much about it. The Barclaycard has nearly 2 years before it runs out of 0%.

Speaking of which - how long did it take for your acceptance letter to come through from Barcalycard? I applied last Thursday but not holding out much hope. I think my credit file is shot to pieces thanks to the incompetence of Reading Council.

It took just over a week I think, I'd completely forgotten about it actually. Only 4 months left on Barker & Stonehouse so we can snowball that at that point, should be all gone within a year if we can focus.

Okay I know I'm bad hence posting on here not you moral money dilema CMD but:
he will be away Mon, Tue and Wed night in which he will be studding in the evening.
Well it's certainly one way to clear the debt :D
