If this was for the MIL I'd recommend inserting builder's expanding foam everytime her mouth is opened

It's for his sister, in tge hope that she'll get to my size, and then follow through on her promise ;)

I am not being racist in asking this, but mamamoo, are you and your husband Asian by any chance?, if so, it may explain the eratic behaviour of you MiL etc. as she had probably lined-up a 'nice girl from a well to do family' for him, then instead of meeting her, he met you, thus p1ssin-off his mother.

    And his respect for you?

I usually advocate talking when families have issues but in this case I'll make an exception and head straight for the cut. :D

Well as we live so far away, she's rarely an issue. My husband promised to pull her up next time she did it, but I know he won't. He needs to get a backbone. I told him last night that he needs to man up and tell her. Every time she calls I end up having a huge row about it with him. I'm fed up now. His whole family are the same. It annoys me because my family are all so accepting of my husband (in fact, the first time many of them met him was at a family funeral that he escorted me to, and no-one minded him being there. Some even apologised for welcoming him to the family like that! He has always been welcome at any family event. )

    Nope. We're both white/British.
I don't want to sound cocky, but out of my husbands exes, I'm the best. It's not hard, one Pestered him into a relationship, and he hated her. The other one ended up sleeping with the entire staff at the local Odeon behind his back)
I'm fairly intelligent (on paper. In real life, I'm dumb as a sack of spuds)
I'm polite (mostly) and have always encouraged my husband to be happy. The reason we're married now is because he wanted to be with me, and actually caused quite a bit of drama for me in order to get me back. (don't get me wrong, it was terribly romantic, and I'm glad he did it)
I've always been polite to his family, I'm always the one who remembers to send flowers, cards and chocs.
I can't understand why they hate me so much.

Do the inlaws from hell have f/b profiles?. We could all go visit them and leave sarcy comments.

Btw, next time SiL comments about your dress size, just ask her how long she has suffered anorexia.

They do, but unfortunately they're all set to private.

And nah, if she does it again, I'll ask her if she'd like me to publish the photos of her swinging round a pole topless on her college's FB page.

    She's not a student, she's a teacher ;)

You have my sympathies - perhaps she just can't let go of 'her little man', but she sounds like an absolute nightmare and she really ought to be at least civil to you. I guess you can just try to hold the high ground by venting on web forums, and grimacing, or always have a friend with you when she visits?

I doubt she has issues cutting the apron strings. For most of his teenage years she was absent (either drunk, or living miles away with her fella)
She's just a pathetic excuse for a person really

agreed, she sounds like a right b word! at least you only have to see her once a year and she's not popping in everyday criticising you. have a you got call id? I'd be inclined to just ignore it if its her!
