Afternoon all , thanks for all the replies ,
Patman 99 I see the sense in having contents insurance and not individual insurance for appliances and gadgets. I'm not sure if I have got contents insurance or whether Landlord (my aunt and mum) have already got it on my behalf will need to investigate . As mobile phones are cheap enough to buy anyway . I am going to find phone insurance policy and cancel it . As for final settlement would that work even through pay plan ?? And how would I go about it ?
Scubaangel thanks for the tip and I will look at the up your income board after all every little helps
Lemontree The cat (sparkle) and bunny ( Billy) say hi to your bunnies, guineapigs and cats
the only reason I say to start saving after new year as I want to allow time to save up emergency fund first . If there is an opportunity to put some money towards paying off debt beforehand then I will .
I am rather delicate today  a bit too much to drink and far to much dancing last night (knees are aching ) Moo is tired too so let's just say she is the devil child this afternoon but it's all worth it we had a fantastic time and it was nice to spend time with friends and family
I am cooking a nice roast dinner in a bit although I have not the energy or the desire to do a full blown roast with a joint of meat and home made roast pots so it's Aunt Bessie and Birdseye all the way today:rotfl::rotfl:
I have finally tidied and sorted out all my paperwork all in an order of some description whoop whoop ,
I couldn't change my direct debits as some offices were closed so am going to takle that tomorrow
Worked out a budget for the next two weeks feel a bit more settled now I know what's going where and what's left. I have also worked out budget for August but am a bit concerned that if I start new job ( I have been offered it but I am waiting to hear about the shift pattern before I accept just waiting for woman to get back to me ) I will go from weekly paid to monthly paid ,meaning there will be a few weeks before I get paid from new job , I have done budget on urge basis of no wages and only on tax credits, child maintenance , it's not good but needs must:eek:
Hope you all enjoy the rest of your Sunday, I am going back to the sofa with diet coke and crisps to muster enough energy to cook our microwave roast :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Emergency fund £0/£300

hi, is the new job with the same place or somewhere different? If it's somewhere the same then maybe they'll give you a short term interest free loan lots of places will if you go from weekly to monthly.
it always feel nice or safer to have your budgets set up. I accidentally on purpose did next months budget, mostly because my credit card bill has arrived and i needed to know everything would be fine.
Hope Moo sleeps well if she's been a monkeynut today0 -
I have had a breakthrough

I have paid my rent today, I know not a big massive achievement to you, but to me its a huge deal .
Let me just stress I always pay my rent and have never been in arrears however I always pay late .
This is what "normally"happens : I recieve housing benefit into bank account on a Monday and by Tuesday I have spent the Housing benefit money on food ,bits and pieces, resulting in me playing "catch up" for the rest of the month which in turn leaves me in a financial mess unntill the cycle starts again
But not today the housing benefit money came into my account today and is travelling through the "virtual" banking system as we speak on its way to landlords account , :T:T:T
This I feel is Progress I am learning

Well done Moos, baby steps are always the way to a long term breakthrough! It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

I've heard from the new job finally :T
Just have to meet with the department manager before I am officially offered the job . Hopefully this will be sometime next week , I am not to bothered as to when I start actually want to stretch it out a bit as I have a holiday in mind which I want to take before I start , as current work place is understaffed and I only have to give a weeks notice to current employer I have a feeling I am going to be verY unpopular and my leaving will make things difficult for them not that I am bothered if they didn't take the p**s then I would still want to work there .
I have been to weight watchers today the less said about that the better
if I had as many £ as I had lb's I would be a millionaire :rotfl::rotfl:
Was intending to change over direct debits to one account but I got roped into helping with moo's class party an eye opening experience ,was also put on the spot and am now helping on the class outing to the library
On a positive note I've had a NS day

Fab news about the new job, fingers crossed the Dept manager confirms the job offer. I have a similar problem with the lbs....lost some lately but not enough! It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

great news about paying your rent on time, it will help save you from chasing your tail for the rest of the month. Fingers crossed about the job.

Evening all,
I am getting the hang of this money saving lark :j:j ( it's only taken 13 years )
Once again I was under budget for the weekly food shop :j:j . The money I saved I used to put petrol in the car . hoping to gradually fill the tank up to full over the next few weeks give us a bit more freedom over the holidays . I usually only put a fiver in the car and then panic as to where the money is going to come from when I need to fill it again (very irresponsible).
At this stage my main priorities are trying to get the day to day finances in order , and be sensible with money and not fritter money so that we can have fun over the school holidays before I start to put money towards the debt , the debt is gently ticking over with me paying the monthly DMP repayments .
Hope your all having a fab Tuesday xxEmergency fund £0/£300
