But don't expect speed or frills. Fine for news/email browsing - not going to be downloading movies or watching flash content. The little processor in the Kindle won't cope!

I think "fine" is overstating the 3G capability. Just about bearable in an emergency, when you must access an email, is more like it.

    try here, http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?rt=nc&LH_TopRatedSellers=1&LH_PrefLoc=1&LH_FS=1&_nkw=usb%20mains%20plug&_fln=1&_trksid=p3286.c0.m283

these are all top rated UK sellers with free postage. You can just plug the lead that came with the kindle into any of these and charge it

    Thanks for that :)

Hmm.. I didn't think it was any worse than dial-up!

It's good if you're on a campsite and you want the inshore weather forecast.:j The main problem for me was that the screen was so small I needed to zoom in on everything.
  • To clarify - web access is FREE - YES FREE - global - that is why it is a FAB deal. It isn't fast - but ideal for keeping up with BBC news and maybe email (see earlier post). And definitely the weather in the area. As I said too - I managed to plan a quick route on it too.
  • Thanks all, just bought refurb one as a gift. I already have one myself, but this is a good deal and ideal for a birthday present! :)

I got this one here. There's lots on Ebay that are similar.
The opening tab is on left. and doesn't obscure page , and it's held securely in the case. Well worth the cash. The outside is a bit shiny, but it's well made. Not sure how long it will last, but worth a try.
Just ordered one of these, seems a great price and product and your description was just what i was looking for.:T
