Mis-informed by C.S. Tesco DTD not ending

Tescos have dubious policies and ethics. One of the few companies who did not pull NOTW advertising, chipping away at its clubcard scheme, worrying fish and over fishing of farmers, .... I reckon after next year when my clubcard points have been fully exploited I will try to shop local/markets/sainsburys. Tired of Tesco ans its all conquering policies
..and how many of us have left this site as a result of Martin deciding not to pull his column either?0 -

Yes this happened to me with reduced cheese in Co-op.
Tesco also do this, a few months ago I bought 2 packs of strawberries reduced to 20p, they had BOGOF stickers on the box so 2 packs of strawberries for 20p :jHandle every stressful situation like a dog.

Seversl times i have gone in for an instore DTD the trouts try to convince me it is has ceased to be policy
I wonder if they are just dumb, ignorant or very naive or actually even trained to employ this line to 'scare' us off from trying for DTD again and thereby potentially saving the store money
At my little tesco I've had to ask for DTD 3 times, each time the (different) member of staff has asked me to tell them where it says that, then said I can't see where it says that and made me read it out, one time she said I'll have to ask the manager who I heard shouting thru "ask them where does it say that" so I presume that it is in my store at least 'policy' to try and 'scare' off customers asking for DTD. Esp since having denied all knowledge of the policy they then have no problem processing it thru the till??0 -
I bet reports that the DTD policy is finishing are wrong!
I wouldn't want to work in a Trading Standards office if the reports are true.

No, because it's a load of rubbish and didn't warrant a new thread. All it has the potential to do is stop people posting their DTD finds.

Errr, why?
It's their policy & they can change it any time they want.
Nothing to do with Trading Standards at all. They would not be breaking any laws if they were to stop it.

In my local they have always offered DTD without me even asking. The first time was a few years ago when I wasn't aware of the policy. I bought a reduced sandwich, it was about £2 full price and had been reduced to about 30p. Took me ages to figure out afterwards why they'd paid me to take the sandwich away! Since then prob only had DTD once, can't remember what for and they gave me DTD without me prompting them. However it was only a small thing again. I'm not sure how they will react to an item that's a big value. I have never had the chance to try!My daughters are my world0 -

Actually trading standards would have a lot to say about it! Its only this 'generous' offer of recompense when they mess up that prevents Tesco from being dragged over the coals for their tardy and often deceitful labelling!!0 -
In light of the various comments here I have telephoned customer services HO whom informed me that they do not know about this change of policy - in hindsight I should have checked but as this come from the customer services a person that gave me DTD on the striped tumblers yesterday, I had no reason to distrust their comments but is does seem she lied to me. Apologies and next time I will check it out with their HO.
Happy DTD'ing everyone.0
