I find Boxing Day such an anticlimax. I've been looking at tree and wondering whether to take it down? I go back to work on Thursday.

  • ohh I'm so glad I'm not the only one.

I absolutely love the build up to christmas and get really excited but as soon as boxing day is here I always get really deflated :( and can't wait to take the decs down. I always think that coming up to christmas is far more enjoyable, I love giving pressies and get a real thrill on buying someone a present which I know they will love and also at a cheaper price ;)

My oh thinks i'm daft...but the twinkle of the christmas lights always seem to fade after christmas day ;)...ok so perhaps I am a little mad but thats how it seems.

Eventhough we are going out this afternoon, and tomorrow and then have people here on Friday I still dont feel christmasy any more :( I really have to stop myself from ripping all the decs down lol

I cant wait to start having a clear out of bits and pieces and start the new year fresh :)

From tomorrow I will begin to take decorations down (we do have rather alot) so then when they are all finally down it wont seem quite so drab all of a sudden. The christmas tree will be the only thing remaining on New Years day and then on the 2nd Jan that will disappear too :)

I have a huge amount to start listing on ebay (must be a cheap listing day soon?) clear out for the charity shops, of course sale shopping for xmas pressies ;) begin decorating my childrens rooms etc. etc and cant wait to get started.

Well I think as soon as my family leaves it's Ebay listing time :) then again is it worth holding out a little longer as not sure if people will bid as high as they're probably as skint as me at the moment and the sales are all on :) Maybe after the sales the amount things will fetch will be higher? Any views on this? :)
As for Christmas then I'm thrilled the hard cooking is over :)

  • I'm going to wait a little while before listing on ebay because there will be lots of people trying to sell now in the coming weeks and alot of people will be skint now so not prepared to pay high prices.

Loved the day, and wouldn't miss it for the world, but pleased to get sort of back to normal, no more worrying about what to buy people, how many houses to try to visit in one day etc.

Boxing day has been clean clean clean, washing, yesterdays washing up etc (refused to do it yesterday) and then there is the ten tonne of rubbish, binmen usually come Tuesday but it's Thursday this week and I have filled 2 bins already!! Got few bags of cardboard etc for recycling, pity can't recycle wrapping paper.

I'm being evil DP says as I can't wait to get the decorations down and packed out of the way as I am sick of cleaning round them, but my son would cry if I took them down this early.
One day I might be more organised...........

Couldn't agree more, the Christmas tele has been terrible this year, pleased I have been too busy to watch it, but I do like Bedknobs and Broomsticks :o

  • I can't believe it's Boxing Day already! I used to get a sense of anticlimax once Christmas Day was over but last year I spent Christmas in hospital thinking my number was up, narrowly missing the ICU and was completely robbed of Christmas and seeing my two sons, then only 5 and 2 get up Christmas morning, to say I was completely gutted is an understatement. So, I don't know if it is some sort of knock-on effect from last year or if it taught me the importance of the family being together at this time of year, but I am really enjoying Christmas this year and I haven't had the anticlimax feeling nor am I fed up of the decs just yet. Also, thanks to everyone on MSE for helping me to organise myself and my own determination for everything to go smoothly we have got menu and activity plans for the whole week so we have still got loads of stuff to look forward to more or less finishing with going to the panto next Saturday and then New Year celebrations begin, which in previous years have been miserable cos in 2001 I had a miscarriage on New Years Eve and then the following year my Mum died on New Years Eve so the following two years I sat at home being a misery and then last year New Years Eve was the time I was allowed back home from hospital with reasonable good health once again and a confirmation that I wasn't going to pop my clogs just yet so we celebrated it and this year will be the same. Loads to look forward to yet!

I'm dreading going back to work on the 2nd - I don't want to - please don't make me, sob sob.
