RBS Key Account upgraded to Select Silver Account without my consent

you probably find it odd because you work for a bank so it must be normal for you to charge £8 a month for a product the consumer has not asked for and does not even need, but for a consumer point of view, this is simply outrageous and shows, one more time, that bankers have absolutely no respect at all for the ones who make them rich. Bankers are legalised thieves.
I don't consider this as an upgrade! I changed my signature to reflect my situation, what is odd in that? Or do you have something to say about this too?0 -

Firstly I dont work in branch so im unfamilar with their processes so im not able to comment. Im my current role is does not involve me opening accounts.
I just thought it was odd how you didnt want the account but you was happy to include it in your signature.
Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
regardless of whether I'm happy about it or not, it's still the situation i'm in at the moment, so I put it in my signature, nothing odd about it.
But anyway as I said i'll pop in into my branch tomorrow. And thanks for your advices so far, you've been helpful.0 -
The upgrade without your consent is illegal. They can however move you to an account that will provide you better or equal services at no disadvantage to the customer without your consent. Perhaps they meant to put you on the free one and just made a mistake.
The silver account has insurance involved, and there is things that the customer must agree to (CRA check , fraud check, consent to share information with 3rd parties) before it can be done.
I just willingly upgraded mine, and the man on the phone was reading for 20 mins and I had to agree verbally before he could put it through.
You would only receive a new card if you were put on the basic account.
There would be no CRA or fraud checks done when changed from a Key to a Silver account.0 -
Chambta: ok, so no check when switching. But do they do one if I ask to change my fulll auth 4751 16xx card (which I got with the key account) to the Offline one?0

You won't be able to have one.0 -

When you were credit checked you were offered the Key Account on the basis on the results. The Silver 'upgrade' is in effect a change in internal coding but will not make you eligible for anything other than paying £8pm. You still cannot have a cheque book, overdraft etc.
If you then opt out and drop back onto the Silver the same conditions apply.0 -
they didn't offer me the key account, I CHOOSE the key account online.0
