i was absolutely gob-smacked when he gave me a £30 fixed penalty ticket.

So it's not actually true that you got a fixed penatly ticket? And...........

As soon as I receive the summons I will scan, edit my personal details, and post on here.

You're not actually waiting for a summons because one hasn't been issued?

It seems that your attitude towards the police may have had more to do with the way they dealt with you rather than them being petty. It seems to me they made a mistake first of all by thinking you were using a mobile, but your attitude to them from then onwards may have wound them up and led to them being awkward with you.

When you are rude to people (police/shop staff/tradesmen/anyone etc), you will generally find that you have blown any chance of goodwill back from them.

I misread that bit, but from reading your posts concerning this, I still reckon your attitude towards them made more of a difference in the way they dealt with you than anything else.

While we're (kinda) on the subject of traffic law, can any policemen/women out there settle an argument for me once and for all? You know the circular sign that is white with a black diagonal line on it - what does it mean? The highway code says it means 'national speed limit'. I take this to mean that, for example, if it was displayed on a dual carriageway then the limit would be 70mph and if it was on a single then it would be 60mph. I have many friends who argue that it always means 60mph, no matter what kind of road it is. Surely this can't be right? If so, why even have this sign and not just use a 60 sign?

Nat speed limit on a dual carriageway is 70, you are right

How have you been robbed? You've had a producer that costs nothing, and a ticket for a fault on your car (which is your responsibility to keep in a roadworthy condition).

  • How can anyone blame this man for getting the hump ?

If it happend to me I'll tell the policeman to stick it right up his backside.

If the man was parked in a layby not moving etc,etc then there isn't a policeman or judge in the lad who wouldn't agree that the policeman in question was acting like a jumped up knob.

Having said then, I believe he realised he wasn't going to get anywhere hence why he never produced the fixed penalty.

    Happy new year !
