Go to any comp site, select Websaver 11 and it will show you all the tariff details.

Apologies but I seem to be immensely stupid as I cannot find out the specific cost details for me websaver 11 tariff. I go to that kink and click on ws11 but just get the usual statement about average prices

    Have you 'selected fuel type'?

    Then 'selected tariff'?

    Then typed in your postcode?

Then when you press return, you get your current and increased prices.

My bill will rise by at least 30%, which seems top conflict with what bg say about prices rising by up to 20% or similar in various newspaper reports.

Nope. That's obviously where I am going wrong. Once I click through to the link. What do I click next? "find the best tariff for you"?

When you click the link there is a box that says:

See the Price of your energy per unit

enter your specific details into the box including your postcode and the tariff you are on and it will give you your current and increased prices

When I check the gas prices in my postcode and calculate my expected billing amount based on gas usage (~2000 kWh in winter & 800 kWh in summer)*, I find hardly (£3-£6 per quarter) any difference among Standard, Websaver 12 and Online 4.

The later two has a £30 penalty for leaving :(

So contrary to what people say, standard tariff is not that bad then!

    * = monthly consumption
Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.

I replied to this on another thread about BG prices. I had the same problem following the link and getting no post code box, only an error message. Seems it has been happening to others too.

Problem seems to have been solved on the BG website now as I can go through the link and the postcode box appears. This certainly wasn't there before. No idea why this was only happening to some people.

As mentioned, though, the comparison websites have been updated and you can check your tariff there.

That's simply because of your tiny consumption (are you sure that is correct-2,800kWh annually is about a sixth of the average bill). The percentage premium for Standard remains the same (6%?) but the ETC assumes greater importance in your case, since you are only spending around £100pa.

It was monthly consumption not yearly!

Strange way to calculate your consumption, all the comp sites use annual figures.
But OK, so if your annual consumption is 16,800kWh pa, your bill is around £600pa. A 6% premium on Standard is much more than you suggest, should be around £9 per quarter.
It's still a needless expenditure unless you are going to switch before the minimum term on a tariff with an ETC.

Just been looking at my Websaver 10 prices for Gas. Tier 1 changing from 7.037 to 8.319 and Tier 2 from 3.104 to 3.764. If I switch out do I have to pay a penalty or is that only on Websaver 12? I have looked at my online account with BG but cannot see any mention of it.
