The great British rip-off on energy prices. When are the British people going to say enough of these extortionate price hikes?
Until we do something about this intolerable situation the energy companies will continue to rip us off.
The whole situation needs some serious investigating to stop these con men.
But hey, the government are not interested as they rake in more vat.

British gas sent me an email and have a link to the cost comparison thing..
They sayAs an OnlineSaver 4 customer your prices will be increasing on average by 19% for gas and 17% for electricity, with effect from 18th August 2011**. This price change will amount to an increase of £15 per month for an average dual fuel customer on your tariff.
Seems T1 electric for my area is up by 6% and T2 is up by 19% along with gas up by 19%. Im in a single person house so i cant see it been that big of a change for me as i dont use a lot of electric (maybe £5 a month) but ultimately i think its bad news for every one, especially big house holds.

Wouldn't it be nice if BG could give us the actual costs of the new tariffs rather than quoting percentages, and wouldn't it be nicer if they could work out a tariff for you so you would know you are on the cheapest rather than having to trawl through different tariffs. But that doesn't happen in the real world:mad:0

And it would be nice if a butler could wipe my bum and serve me a milkshake every day, but some things we can and should do ourselves!0 -
No need for sarcasm either:eek: All I was saying that they have told us the percentages, but not the actual unit cost, so how can we compare other tariffs!0

they have provided this. if you look at post #17 in this thread there is a link so you can find out exactly how it affects your prices. they quote prices as an average in the press, as it would be extremely difficult and long winded to show how every tariff in every region is affected through the media.
The problem with there being so many tariffs is that it does confuse so many customers. But so many people want different things. Some people want the cheapest deal possible, some people want a cheap deal with no tie ins, some people want there prices fixed/capped, some people dont want to manage their accounts online and some people are concerned about the environment and would prefer a green tariff. Its kind of a catch 22 situation where companies are trying to cater for the particular needs of certain customers, but this then adds to the overall confusion when newer tariffs are created0
