they have provided this. if you look at post #17 in this thread there is a link so you can find out exactly how it affects your prices. they quote prices as an average in the press, as it would be extremely difficult and long winded to show how every tariff in every region is affected through the media.

The problem with there being so many tariffs is that it does confuse so many customers. But so many people want different things. Some people want the cheapest deal possible, some people want a cheap deal with no tie ins, some people want there prices fixed/capped, some people dont want to manage their accounts online and some people are concerned about the environment and would prefer a green tariff. Its kind of a catch 22 situation where companies are trying to cater for the particular needs of certain customers, but this then adds to the overall confusion when newer tariffs are created

Thank you for that, but they are not accurate. I put in my postcode and Online Saver 2 and the price they showed is different to that shown on my bills, so it get really confusing. But thank you for the link:beer:

prices showing on the bills are normally excluding vat as vat is charged at the end of the bill. could this be where the confusion lies?

No one is locked in unless they are on a fixed tariff. You can reject the price rises and initiate a switch within 15 days of receiving notification of the price change (as posted in the contract in this thread earlier). Those are the rules for all the suppliers and there's nothing BG can do about it, so execute your rights and switch.

AFAIK they are only obliged to not charge you the new tariff rate until you leave but that doesn't mean they won't charge you exit fees.

Going by the link provided http://www.britishgas.co.uk/products-and-services/price-change/what-it-means.html#PriceMapFlash

my price is rising by £14 per month for an average user. As I am below average and just went onto websaver 12 I can cope with this.

I'm on websaver 11 for both electric and gas and these are meant to rise 22% and 19% but at the moment moneysupermarket says best deal is another £222 a year anyway so doesn't seem much point in changing just will be far more aware of consumption I'm using.
