MSE News: British Gas to hike prices by up to 18%

I'm on websave 11 (from about 6 weeks ago, signed up for a year due to being the best tariff at the time). My tier two price is risisng 33% - from 9.663 p/kwh to 12.884 p/kwh, and my house is all electric. Night rate is up 34% - from 4.08 to 5.48
That really is a bit rich, especially since it looks like I'm locked in for a year, unless I want to pay a penalty.
I wonder if anyone's rate is going up 'just' by the 16-18% they claim?.0 -
My websaver 11 prices have risen as follows. Elec : Tier 1 24.331p to 26.760p (10%ish) Tier 2 9.798p to 11.778 (20.2%ish) Gas: Tier 1 7.355p to 8.715p (18.5%ish) Tier2: 2.86p to 3.483p (21.7%ish)
Though the price rises are annoying considering the pressure on my wallet at the moment anyway. At Least BG have handled this better than SP with a break down of how each tariff is affected shown on there website and the average increases at least fairly accurate, at least in my case0 -
Just had a BG price rise in April, fair enough it was delayed from last year when many other tariffs went up. Its just a bit much that yet again many are having to find yet more on top of everything else, fuel, food prices
Glad I got a load of logs for Winter at least this year they didnt go up although winter 2009 jumped up from £110 to £140 a load0 -
I'm on Websaver 11 too, but I can only find BG's statement of the average price rise. Where are you finding the details of the new individual regional rates?0

- British Gas admits some bills could increase by as much as 24%
- Energy giant said had raised its prices in response to a 30% hike in wholesale prices since last winter
- It is the second of the 'big six' companies to put up prices after Scottish Power announced a 19% hike in gas
"But the energy giant admitted some customers could be paying up to 24 per cent more dependant on where they live and how they pay their bills."0 -
I've been on standard for ages as the cost hasn't really bothered me (for the age of my flat.. it's really efficient!). But time to get some insulation and change provider me thinks...:exclamatiTo the internet.. I need to complain about something!0
