    Evening all

    Tw1nkstar - welcome and hugs

Will know more about my grandad tomorrow, stopped at pub for a drink, I have a very good friend who OH told about grandpa, our friendship is mostly based on good times, and he was so lovely tonight.

OH's dad works for BA and offered to get me a flight up to scotland so i could see him tomorrow, but the money is alot and we wont know what we are dealing with till tomorrow, so have a ticket on standby for monday if need be, if not i'm going up next weekend to be with him.

When i was little i thought my grandad was the tallest man in the world (turns out my nan, mum and dad are just tiny) but, in my childhood head i thought him being so tall meant he was invincible, like the BFG and i've always had this thought, which has come crashing down on me right now.

I've told OH although we are in no rush to get married, we need to atleast think about it, because, although we are in no rush, not everyone is so lucky as us to be in no hurry to do anything.

Night night all my lovelies,I really really appreciate the thoughts and well wishes. None of my 'real life' friends have responded like you have

  • Hi all,

I dont post very often but read everyday, think i will be posting more just for support and a sounding board. I am Sue, married for the second time to Andy - a good divorce 11 years ago and still have a brill relationship with X, have 2 dds and 1 ds and one mad as a box of frogs dgs who is 3 - I work full time in local school in early years most of the time but teach yr1 and yr2 for an afternoon a week (i love my job) I have fantastic supportive parents and i guess I have had the perfect life for which i am some grateful. I am struggling at the mo though as my darling father got diagnosed with cancer of the rectum 6 weeks ago and we already know from the test that it has spread to the liver and lungs, he is in for surgery Thursday ( 6 hour op) to remove the cancer and to have an illiostomy sp?? the hospital have been brill and have explained everything and my brother and I are able to call dads nurse to ask any questions needed to be answered. We am travelling down Wednesday evening so Andy can take dad into hospital and so we can be there for the first week whilst he is hospital to support mum and take her to the hositpal for visits etc - I just feel so lost at the mo i guess - we live in York and mum and dad are in essex so we are not just round the corner - This site always has such common sense I hoping that in bad days (may there be few) you will help me see the positives. Sorry for the rambling it is the way the brain is at the mo,

    Sue x

You are not rambling at all it might be an old adage but a problem shared is a problem halved seems to have some truth in it. Life is full of things that we can't have control of if you need to talk or shout or whatever sometimes other people have good practical advice from the lifes experience there are some really nice people on here and if a few words help then its all good never apologise for admitting you are lost or scared or whatever you feel we all understand bad day thoughI hope there are few for you. I hope your dad copes well with the illiostomy try to find something each day that you can laugh at it will help keep you sane
    much love x
