Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Friday, 8th July. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Good morning Peeps,
Grey and damp here this morning. It is being very good weed growing weather!
Will be making fish pie today for DH, DD1, DD2 and me (with spinach from the garden:)) The 4 lads will have parmesan crusted chicken with peppercorn sauce & dauphinoise potatoes or wedges.
It is sports day today, but it is so wet underfoot that I think it might well be cancelled. The children are high as kites at the moment as the timetable is constantly being disrupted because of end of term/ year activities.
I need to have a good go at the house this weekend. I seem to be here enough to make a mess but not enough to clear up. I need to de-clutter big-time so there's not so much "stuff". Think I'm hoping that clearing the house will clear my brain cell. Hope is such a good virtue:)
Have a good Friday everyone. Hugs to all who need or want them x
Cheers m'dears, Silver x

Morning Silver & all who cross/follow
Raining here today, but not too heavily & it saves watering some of the garden, it will also fill up the water butts.
I thought hubby had finished working at school for a while, but he's been asked to work tomorrow, next Saturday & some time in August, it means he does a 6 day week, but the money's useful. I have loads I'd like to get done on Saturday, including some dressmaking, it depends on whether of not my DD & SIL are working, if they are I'll have the children again, if not I shall get some jobs done. When my children were small I managed to get some housework done & look after the 4 of them, but I'm out of practice & get very little done when the DGC are here.
Tea tonight is some reduced sirloin steak I found lurking in the freezer with HG veg & mushrooms.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

well yesterday was a very good day My DGS Jack(11) had a day at his new school and he is in the top clss of the grammar stream which he is really pleased about he was a little nervous at first as its a huge school and he is going from the local little primary but he came out all smiles and said 'Granny they have a huge drama unit there' (he wants to be an actor)so he was a very happy little boy Then when we got home he had a letter to say that he has won a prze at school and his prize giving is next week.Today I take tha boys to school and the youngest Mikey is supposed to be going on a school trip to Minnis Bay,sun is out at the moment but I don't know how long for ,fingers crossed .DGD Katie is picking them up so I can go to my history class this afternoon.so that helps a bit then I will go back to their house and make them some dinner as the two eldest boys have youth club at 6.30.I don't know where this week has dissappeared to.
Hope everyone has a good day

Good Morning All. Up early to prepare my part of the group presentation for our final course session today. These past two years have galloped away - can't believe it's coming to an end.
JackieG - sorry to hear that news, Big ((HUGS)) for you all.
Hester, I know just what you men about having no time to do anything like HW when the GC are around! I suppose that when they're your own you just have to get on with other things, when they're the GC we spend more time with them because there's always time to do other things when they're not around.
Silver, I remember so well how end of term things just take over. Soon be the holidays though!
JackieO - well done to Jack! Glad he's now looking forward to moving up to the new school.
Have started scouring the house ready for the visit from the cousins from OZ in just under two weeks. DH sanded down the cloakroom wall (it's been waiting to be repainted for ages and ages!) Funny how visitors give you that little bit of impetus to get the jobs done!
Hope you all have a good day today. Take care.Resolution:

Morning everyone - squeezing in a post as I'm waiting for my new living room chair to be delivered between 7.00a.m. and 2.00p.m. Meant to be a morning delivery but think it's a bit stretched! Last night I tried to re-arrange the other furniture but it wasn't successful and I didn't like any of the ways. Maybe once the chair is here it'll just 'fit in'.
Have got the WM swishing away, the eggs for breakfast have been boiled and I'm on my second cup of tea.
Last night I did a mini declutter but I soon got distracted. :j
Freezer contents are going down well. Forcing myself to use what we have got is a real challenge but I am bearing it well. Trouble is that I'm away so much these days that it takes determination to take something out to defrost in good time - OH lives off pizza I think though I try really hard to not bother too much.
Picked up some knitting last night too, it had been lost by the side of the second sofa which doesn't get much sitting on. Quite happily did a few rows of moss stitch whilst remembering how much I used to love to knit. :j
I've been watering my friend's garden whilst they are away and savouring the fruit and veg I am able to harvest. Lovely stuff.
Good vibs to all those who need them and extra good ones to those who need them too. Life is good in the Gers household but haven't always been so.0 -
Morning all,
Damp and dismal this morning, still the washing is going out!
Quiet day at work today and then taking DD1 to ballet this evening, I can't believe that is all I have to do.
Tomorrow I am going to a wedding of 2 people from church, that should be lovely, I am really looking forward to it.:D
Tea tonight is HM pizza, it is friday after all.
Hugs to those who need them especially JackieO, JackieG and Lou.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -

Good Morning x
Rainy day here today. I am worried about my DS2 as he is at Wakestock. I know I have to let him go but it doesn't get any easier. However he did ring me yesterday to let me know he got there ok - just hope he managed to get his tent up before the rain:eek::eek::eek:
I lost most of the day yesterday due to one of my turns. I have had quite a run of them and really hoping they subside again soon. Im going away with Mooloo for her birthday on the 21st July so really need to get on top of my health again. Everything going to pot really especially meal planning so am going to have a think about meals etc today. Also need to clean the piggies out again - they cost me an arm and a leg:eek::eek::eek:
Hugs to those struggling xx
ETA - phoned me this morning. Not much sleep but his cheepo tent is still holding up!!I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Morning guys,
Thanks for the well wishes, my mum is heading up to Scotland today, so will hopefully hear more when she arrives tonight.
Was up early today, OH had work early and i couldn't sleep, have done some dishes left over from yesterday and cleaned out the rabbit.
Need to do a food shop today, aiming for a spend of about £20 for the week as have lots of bits in the freezer that could do with being eaten. Also need to create a tenancy agreement for BIL to sign. He didn't come home last night, he's got a 10pm bail curfew, but thats his choice, if the police come round to do a spot check (if they can find us!) i'm not lying for him and he knows that.
As the weather is rubbish i'm taking my washing to my mums this weekend so i can use her tumble dryer, otherwise it will never dry! Also going to use their lovely bathroom for a long soak in the tub and some 'me time' it's kinda hard to chill out when there is 2 boys in the house!
I shall be popping on and off here all day long, have a lovely day all

Morning everyone
Very wet underfoot as we had heavy rain during the night, but sun now breaking through. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock. Fridge freezer arrived at 9.15am, I'm really pleased with it, its a little larger than I thought but it does need to be as the previous one was a baby american fridge/freezer so had got used to a lot of fridge space. Got f/freezer in situ then realised the kitchen bin didn't fit where I thought it would, so went to local hardware store and purchased a nice shiny new one - it's very much better but I can't believe I spent that much money on a bin!!
Last night decided to cook dinner from what ingredients etc I had at home, so managed to make a lasagne, served with hot new potatoes, HM potato salad, coleslaw, breaded mushrooms, and a side salad, we then enjoyed DS1's apple crumble and custard - nice! Not sure what we're having tonight. Want to get the new fridge freezer stocked from the temporary ones so that we can take them back to MIL's and I can get the house sorted.
Was productive yesterday too, did majority of the housework, right the way through the house, did all the ironing I had, will hang load from WM out in a moment and hopefully get that dry and ironed today too. On line shop being delivered later this afternoon so will be going to bank shortly, and have a meeting at DS1's school re his behaviour, then the day's my own as they say - but need to pack for the weekend, do some baking/cooking and any other jobs on the fly list that I haven't yet managed - think I find something to keep me busy then!!
Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.
