Just been to check it out but there is no liquidation sale. At least I didn't see anything different from normal.

The only thing different is if you buy something, you can only get store credit if you want to return it in the future.

I went into Liverpool store to buy Sloogi Knickers; they were £14.99 which is £2 more expensive than they usually sell them for! They were still taking Love to Shop Vouchers, but the assistant had to check with a supervisor.

Most City Centres are soon going to look like the shopping parades in the suburbs, boarded up & covered in graffiti.
The large TJ Hughes in our town is only a few doors down from the old huge Woolworths that is as far as I know still empty.
All the staff must be very worried about their future.
Very sad to see another huge business going bust.

TJ Hughes has gone way too expensive these last few years in my opinion.

For example someone posted about having an Offer on 6 pairs of Trainee socks for £3, yet you can get them for £2 normal price (or £1 in sale) in Primark. They do sell some nice home things sometimes but when I think of a bargain I never think of them first. Think they've been outpriced by the supermarkets home sections, which are open 24/7 and have free parking.

This sale will only get better the longer it goes on, or should I say, the closer it gets to closing down. Sounds a bit evil of me but I won't be going in to my store for at least another 1-2 weeks. Thats when I think you'll see real savings of 70-80% off etc :o

I went to the Widnes store today and they were puting up signs saying closing down sale and everything must go, but the prices were the same at the moment.

Learn from the mistakes of others - you won't live long enough to make them all yourself.

The one in Coventry is really big, 3 or 4 floors... No massive sale at the moment, but I got 2 fantastic pillows should have been £90 each and were reduced to £15 each, well worth the money! They are the ones that mould to your head and neck (forgotten the 'proper' terminology... Lacking caffiene/ brain cells sorry!)

Went into the Romford branch on Friday, not very impressed with the sale.

Big signs in the window about the sale, and many items with reduced stickers, but other then a few bags (I don't no much about bags, but they looked reasonable).

All the prices where as I would expect to pay if the shop was not liguidating and even then I would not buy certain of those items at the prices they had!

I'm sure there are bargins for some people just not for me.

    Staff where nice though :).

Could also try your local market, as our ones are from a market stall at £12 a pair selling the same ones we have in another room from Argos which where £32 a pair.
