I worked for Woolies and when we were closing down we definitely didn't put prices up! We were told to practically give the stuff away, on the last day our manager told people to fill their baskets with whatever they wanted from the leftover stock and leave a pound on the way out. I really feel for the staff at all these companies, it's horrible.0 -

It was once an old style co-op (the one that sold furniture etc) - remember getting huge quantities of those blue divi stamps when buying a three piece suite. Its a very old building and will need a good facelift. Would make a great Debenhams but it is sad also that another familiar name going off the high street. Where our woolies was is now a Poundland (also another further down). That too was a massive store, and ideal for a H&M, River Island or Primark. What did we get - yet another £1 shop. Yawn!
Our TJ's in Doncaster is a huge 3 floor store that also used to be a co-op! It's sad to see it go as I really don't know what will move into it once they have gone.
Our shopping centre centre (frenchgate) has recently been revamped so most big retailers are in there. Our old woolies is now a swedish store called Clas Olsan that sell everything under the sun and give argos a real run for their money!0 -
Theres a massive 3 floor one in Warrington and a newer retail park one in Bolton.
Its dreadful all these fab shops going under, all those people looking for jobs that don't exist. Must be really stressful.0
