That's why I enjoy this forum so much.

RM was calling for a bit more humour a few weeks ago, I hope he sees the funny side of this.

Strange, you seemed to have missed out the post count for the most important day!

Yesterday when I post details of my interest rate challenge:

    7/7 - 33 posts

How odd that you 'forgot' to insert that most important statistic?

    :rotfl:

It was irrelevant, as I was replying to your accusation that I was only posting a couple of posts every other day. Nothing strange about that. And nothing strange about you getting something else wrong.
Once I stop posting, so will he and he will return to his normal one or two posts every coupld of days.

Other news, the BoE votes to hold rates. :D

    YAY!!! :)
Well it's RenovationMan who feels he has to divulge all his personal finances on an internet forum.

As far as I know this is a debate and advice forum but all RenovationMan can do is[STRIKE] boast [/STRIKE]bleat on about how great low interest rates are for his mammoth project and how they are saving his as*.

RM is the most predictable poster each month when it is announced that interest rates are held at 0.5%......

I'm not quite sure who continually values his property at £450,000 .......

i would hazard a guess that it is his own head that comes up with it.

I have a tracker that is set to 2.5% over base rate for three years. I reasoned that we would have low rates for the length of that 3 year period and that I would use this to my advantage by making overpayment onto the mortgage and renovating the property I bought.

When I bought my house in May2010, I expected rates to stay at 0.5% until May 2011 and I set my renovation timetable to end that month. So far my renovations have overrun by a couple of month but so has the BoE rate prediction.

My aim now is to finish off the renovations and then concentrate on reducing down the mortgage so that by the time rates start to return to 'normal' levels I will have a 'normal' sized mortgage, but on a larger sized property.

    So far, so good! :D

Not bad ...... your renovations have over run yet your signature states that you have paid £47,000 off your mortgage .....

p.s. I dare say that if my signature showed my mortgage debts going up rather than down, then certain people might not be so offended by it. :(

As others have said, some people simply do not like to see others do well.

And as you can see, some people don't like people who repeatedly show off.

And if your mortgage debts were going up rather than down, your signature would not be shown. Am I right ?

  • Why anyone would post their mortgage amount and house value on a public forum is beyond me

Yes, I suppose you're right, although I'd love everyone to see how well I'm doing.

Oh, I can almost feel the jealousy oozing out of the screen as I read this post. I reached your own good fortune many years ago when I bought my first starter home in 1995 (same year as yourself I believe) and paid off the mortgage. Unlike yourself, I didn't settle for just this. When we both retire I will be downsizing from a 5 bed farmhouse with attached 1 bed apartment and a few acres of land with various out buildings and you will erm, be staying put for another 25 years.

No wonder you are reticent about boasting. There isn't much to shout about is there?

STOP PRESS- Middle aged man owns 2 bed house that he bought cheap in 1995 and lived in ever since .--- :rotfl:

STOP PRESS- A DIY enthusiast has the ability to see into the future and find out what his house is worth when he comes to sell it, he can even see what other houses are worth and can dreamily pick out his favourite.

Various outbuildings....yeah alright mate, most people have got a shed.

LOL, you're getting a little involved with this username aren't you? No idea what you're ranting about above though. Time you took a rest from the board?

Wow, look at the litany of losers above your post jimmy. I hadn't realised I was getting to so many [STRIKE]people [/STRIKE] usernames. :rotfl:
