When you come to sell your house do not sell it to somebody who works in the building game because you will not get anywhere near what you want for it.

As an aside you need to look at the reasons people are talking about your mortgage.

    How does this work?

RM: Im not prepared to accept less than £500k

    Buyer: I offer £350k

    RM: No.

Buyer: Ah but I work in the building trade, therefore you have to sell it to me for less than you're prepared to accept.

    RM: No.
  • Interesting he avoided my question about why someone 'working in the building game would not pay anywhere near what I asked for it'.

I assume it's because Jimmy's handler doesn't work in the 'building game' and really doesn't want to get into this with me. We might start talking about the applicability of hydraulic lime levels and whether one should dub out a stone wall with a mixture of hemp lime and prompt natural cement to maintain breathability in old buildings and his google skills might not be upto it. :rotfl:

Yep, he's still avoiding the question... :rotfl:

Well even if it's only worth £50,000, the way you harp on about your building trade mates, they wouldn't be able to afford the petrol to get there from the 19th century tenament they live in to view it, let alone put a cheeky offer in.

It depends who the labourers are labouring on and what they did with the money they earned during the boom.

It stands to reason that 'most' labourers would not be able to afford it, we aren't talking about the minority of labourers here.

So you do agree you have not got a clue on what is going to happen when you come to downsize your house ?

Looks like jimmy's handler has painted himself into a corner. He can't argue that he and his mates are living hand to mouth, getting into fist fights about receiving pay, living rough in caravans for a meagre and intermittant income while also making out that they have the income to afford large houses. Does....not.... compute.

I think the handler will soon tire of jimmy, he was always a little one dimensional and a pretty poor creation. There isn't really anywhere left to go with it.

Let's answer this question in the form of the popular quiz show, "Millionaire"

Jimmy Tarrant: "Ok, Rennoman, here is your question for the jackpot. 'What is going to happen when you come to downsize your house?'

"A. Aliens will arrive from Alpha Proxima and abduct me.
    B. A meteor strike will wipe all life of the earth.
    C. I will sell the house.
    D. Biblical floods and plagues of locusts will issue forth."

Rennoman: "Hmnn, a toughie Jimmy. I was leaning towards Biblical floods, but I'm going to have to go with 'C. I will sell the house'.

    Jimmy Tarrent: "Final Answer?"

Rennoman: "Yes, I'm going for C."......

Jimmy Tarrent: "Well, we're going to have to wait for the answer because that's all the time we have this week. Join us in 23 years when rennoman sells his house to find out if he wins the jackpot!"
