morning all
Well I have no idea where time is going to it's Sunday already! My main task today is to try and install a wireless router that did not want to auto install when I last had chance to try it last week. grrrrrrrr pc's can't live with em can't live without em. Thinking about you Stormy and hope you have managed to get a new pc, there are always so many decisions when getting a new one aside from how much will it cost. Dad got a new one last week and is spending this w/e transferring all this stuff from one to the other - that is the bit I hate, always takes ages and invariably some stuff does not transfer as you expect.
Oops sorry didn't mean to ramble on quite so much! Better get dressed and start. Hope you are all well, if Rosie is playing today Stormy when hope she scores
Take care everyone and have a good Sunday.

Hello Twink, AnW'sMum and all,
A very wet sunday here, just getting Rosie readu for football and trying to find the biggest towel possible to put in the 'new' car so it doesn't get covered in mud after footie!!
My PC is totally dead, I've pinched the children's lap top to catch up with stuff, but it doesn't have any of my settings on it, so it's a real pain in the proverbial. I'm going to decided today on a new PC, I think I'll get a desktop again as I want to connect all the printers and stuff onto it, as you said, AnW's Mum, it's just a big job setting it all up again, but as I can't even turn the old one on, there's nothing to transfer. It's lucky really that after John died, I tool all the pics and any other info off the PC onto pen drives, so I have most of the important stuff anyway.
I have a busy day ahead, football, then to see my Grandson, Ryan, then for a coffee with my SIL with a friend and go to curry's, comet, staples, for advice on a PC. I think I'll probably get one from DELL, as both the ones I've had are from DELL and I've never had a problem with them dispite all the bad reports floating about. I think the one I have now has died as its about 8 years old and has had loads of abuse from all the family and it's just had enough. I know how it feels!!!!!
I;ll catch up later with you all if I can managed to prise this laptop off the children later.
Take care and hugs to all,
Stormy

all this talk about computers, i can get on the internet an thats about it
by the way stormy my son says there is nothing wrong with dell and he runs the computer network at his work, we had the foresight to buy a sinclair spectrum when they came out so he was always into computers, we still have it, hope rosie does well at the footie

This one is almost like mine, have a look around here and you can get a 5% off code and free delivery too. Hope this is a help-the other thing they are all Windows Vista and I am not sure if I have the time of day for this new operating system! Get some good advice and dont listen to hard sell assistants.
Anyway take care all of you and enjoy what is left of Sunday
Hugs and kisses

Hi All,
Thanks for the advice on the computers, I've just tried a new monitor off my SIL and still no luck, so it's off to the big PC recycle place in the sky now, perhaps John could look at it for me and send me a message!!!!! If only
Rosie had a fantastic match, she scored a hat-trick and got man of the match. The final score was 4 - 2, so all was well apart from the fact that they were covered in mud and had to get into my car..horror of horrors, good job someone gave me a couple of bin bags for the girls to sit in!! Rosie said she was going to phone child line when she got in cos I made her sit in a bin bag!!!!
Anyhow, I'm off to build my Dell on here now and see what sort of price I can get, the children are having MSN withdrawals as I've had the laptop for more than 10 minutes!
Love and hugs to all
Stormy

Hi Stormy
There are two things,
maybe on the techie board there is someone who would look at your pc for free?
Secondly if you are going for a Dell, then don't forget to order it via https://www.quidco.com, as you get 4% cashback on the deal at present.
Hope that helps
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Thanks Chev, I've been lurking on the techie board for a while now, reading and trying stuff, normally I'm quite good with computers and have put in new mother boards, extra memories, added peripherals etc etc. To be honest though, the PC is nearly 7 years old, it has windows millenium on it and has been soooooooo slow for many months. I'm going to move it out of our (mine and John's) old office, change this into a bedroom for one of my sons, and get the new PC into my bedroom.
The decision is 2 fold really, to make room in my bedroom for the PC, I will have to clear John's clothes out (well, maybe as far as the loft), and I thought this might be the incentive I need to do this. I don't really know what to do with John's clothes, but I can't just keep them forever and I know the boys don't want any, they have already taken what they would like, so all that's left is old stuff really.
Anyhow, I wont order one straight away, I've decided to take a week off work at Easter with Rosie and I'll have a huge sort out then. I'll hopefully be able to keep going on the kids laptop for now. All my wireless router, printers and stuff are in the office in the loft, so do you think I will need a phone line in the bedroom, or should a new PC work of the router in the loft?
Thanks for t1he quidco tip, I'd have forgotten all about that if you hadn't reminded me.
Love and stuff,
Stormy:j Stormybay0
