I have involved all the children with everything I can, and offered them to be involved if they want to.
I have a step daughter in her 30's and reminded her today about ordering flowers, i'm worried about her as she said that she couldn't do that as it means that it's true!!! She loved him so much and they were extremely close, she will be in bits on friday, but the whole time I have kept her informed of everything and she has been supportive, but, as yet, unable to accept the situation.
God it's all so sad, I want to scream and let someone else do everything, but there just isn't anyone..................
The checklist suggested by Martin seems to be a fantastic idea as it's so hard to be practical at such an emotional time.
My mum felt exactly like you and as other poster have said that is normal, there was no one else for my mum either as we lived abroad ,strangely though you manage.
I read where you said that now you have endless support etc but worry that it will go away and you will be left alone with your grief... PM me anytime and I am sure that lots of others feel the same.
My mum was exactly the same she said that 'after a while' people drift off and she 'lost' herself inside the grief, again, if there is anything you can do for yourself, your children and your grief is to keep talking, keep communicating, do not isolate yourself and let others see how you feel.
My mum also had a holiday booked and she went on it, she said it gave her a focus.
I cannot put into words how much I will be thinking and feeling for you , with the very best wishes xxxx0 -

Stormybay & Annie....
Sitting here in tears for you both. I can't say anything that hasn't been said before and I'm no good at poems or other magically inspirational words.
But I want to send warm, genuine & heartfelt sympathies for you both and hope that you coped as well as you could today. I can't even begin to imagine how you must be feeling.
I wish I could physically be there, even though I don't know you, to do something to help.
Once again, my sympathies.

Have only just seen your post and I cannot see my screen for the tears!
Hope today went as well as can be expected:sad:. I lost my dad when I was 19 (he committed suicide) and he was 46. At the time I never thought I would get over it, but gradually things do get easier and now, 19 years later, life is ok. I do still miss dad and now I have a daughter (12), I am so sorry he never met her and she will never know him:sad:
Thinking of you all

I'm in tears too, thinking about all the lovely things said and wished for. I hope it went ok for you and that you found even a smidgen of peace.
Martin - that was a wonderful idea of yours and a very useful one.
Stormy/Annie - hope you are both doing as well as can be expected. Seems silly asking if you are ok as that is clearly the wrong question to ask today.
Big hugs and kisses for you and your families XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXIf you wait for perfect conditions, nothing would ever get done! :T
