What would i be able to use it for? If i'm making a casserole i tend to use the oven is there other usefull and cheap meals to be made using one?
I work from home so similar situation and always use the oven for casseroles - was looking at the £16 Morphy Richards slow cooker on amazon today and wondering if I would use it much (don't really have space for another gadget, although if the flat was mine and not rented I would love to ditch the big ugly microwave for extra space). You may already have one but what about a cast iron Le Creuset casserole dish - I use mine all the time (not just for stews/casseroles but on the hob too for risoottos, soups etc). The only prob would be finding one for £25 - however I have got lucky in the past with amazon special offers etc and have got them for between £27 and £35 for a decentish size one (22cm) - the bigger the better (18cm one is too small) - so worth keeping an eye on the bargains board just in case."The happiest of people don't necessarily have the
best of everything; they just make the best
of everything that comes along their way."

Potato ricer (only about £10, not £25).
Electric steamer (may get one of these for the other £15).
George Forman (I've got a Tefal Fit & Clean & the electric strips off & it goes in the dishwasher, its fab, you could add extra to get the one you want).
Food processer if you can get one that cheap or add some to it, I love mine for chopping & blending.0 -
If you already have a George Foreman, i wouldn't bother with a toastie machine. We make all our toasties in the George these days.....
I'd say slo-cooker but if you are home all day then maybe not...
i'm going to keep my eye out for a whizz whizz!!I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
How about a Pressure Cooker? Mine's a Prestige Hi-Dome - £22 from TJ Hughes.0

I'd vote for a hand blender I think. I got a Braun one from Amazon a while back for £20 that came with a balloon whisk and a mini chopper thing. I use it all the time - this evening, I whizzed some soup, chopped some meat, used the balloon whisk for all-in-one white sauce. It's great for smoothies too and loads of other things. It's easy to clean too and takes up very little space. If you can find a hand blender with a few extra bits like mine you'd do well I think.0

Hi All
First up, apologies if this has been done before. I did a search but nothing came up for me.
Just wondered if there were any gadgets/gizmos that you really wouldn't be without?
For me it would be the Bread Machine and Washing Machine. I could manage without them, but I'd be longing for them back, pdq.
For less 'necessary' items, I'd go for my juicer and potato masher. Yes, I could use a fork, but the masher makes life soooo much easier!
What are your must haves?
MethererNot heavily in debt, but still trying to sort things out.

Has to be my steam generator iron and wide ironing board. Since getting them I love ironing - and can do it in less time. I'd rather iron than do anything else in the house. So little money - so much time :mad:0
