it not O/S but how about a george foreman.
we have one and it is amazing. It cookes gorgeous chicken breasts , burgers wheather home made or shop bought. and i also do fruit on it. a banana wrapped in foil with chopped mars cars inside for a real treat. or slices of apples they make a gorgeous snack.
if u don't need anythign right now, why not take it back and just hold on the refund money until u can think of something u will need. as u don't want to buy somethign for sake of it , and end up not using it.
i don't work and i'm a stay at home mum. but i do still use the slow cooker. as it means i still have the oven/hob free so while dinner is in slow cooker i cna be making somethign else if needed. or the kids can help make a cake etc.
but i appreciate this might not be worth while for everyone.0 -

i use it for chopping up bits all the time is great, also great for soups etc and my slow cooker.
A 'wizz wizz' would get my main vote here too.... (lol I love that name!)
I use it nearly daily for blending soup, making breadcrumbs, chopping herbs and making spice pastes, I even use it to make smoothies and milkshakes!
digital scales are a godsend
a good kitchen digital timer
As for a steamer I would recommend one of the metal pan insert things (they open up like a flower), they usually cost less than a fiver and are fab - again used daily for veg here!0 -

I'm not a great gadget person. I have an electric steamer and a pan steamer and a Kenwood Chef. I use these a lot.
What I would like SOOO much is an ice cream maker. On holiday in France I had rhubarb ice cream which was a cross between ice cream and sorbet and was just divine. I had some every day.
I also had 'violet' flavoured. Does anyone remember those square 'parma violet' sweets? Well imagine those made into ice cream and dyed deep purple. I had a taste and the girl watched me very closely and laughed at the face I pulled as it was vile!0 -

I searched under 'wizz wizz' and got some very curious sites!doh! I then searched under 3 in 1 hand blender and got something more like I was expecting.

I'd be tempted to keep the DVD's & wait until carboot season! This Summer just gone, I kitted my kitchen out with all the gadgets I have ever wanted/needed (didnt know I wanted/needed
)
I bought ...
1)a Morphy Richards chome breadmaker for a fiver - only used a few times you could tell
2) a '70's model Kenwood Chef with a couple of attatchments, whisk, dough hook & 'K' beater again for a fiver
3) 2x Easiyo yoghurt makers one brand new & un-opened for £2 & one opened & used once for £1 - gave one to my DD:A
4) Metal Stick Blender for £1.50:T
5) 3 pasta machines £2, £4 & £5 respectively (only the £4 one - last one- had the clamp- doh!:o )- anyone have a clamp but no machine just pm me lol
6) Huge George Forman grill with stand so you can use it for BBQ's -£15 (£150 ish in shops) boxed, maybe used twice I would say- untensils still in plastic bag.....:money:
7) med size George for BIL £3 -he wanted one with variable temp:A
8) plastic salad spinner/food slicer (rubbish) £1
9)Mini Kenwood food procesor for £2 still boxed & unused £3
Not bad for under £45 quid really -bar the pasta makers -hangs head in shame:oI THINK is a whole sentence, not a replacement for I KnowSupermarket Rebel No 19:T0 -
I'd say go for either a Toasted Sandwich Maker or George Foreman Gril....
Actually right now in the sales you could probably get both. ASDA have a MR Sandwich Toaster/Grill in one for £14.00 if you want to get a 2 in 1.
Maybe that and a electric can opener...I wouldn't be without mine now!0 -

ohh yes even after all that money saving I did I still want a 'hands free can opener' see videohttp://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000SCMG8O/30000543-21/?m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLEI THINK is a whole sentence, not a replacement for I KnowSupermarket Rebel No 19:T0 -
I'd say slow cooker too.
Other good ones - decent hand blender, steamer, rice cooker. If you've got decent pans I'd go for one of them. If you haven't, I'd get a good heavy based pan. I couldn't believe how much easier my life became when I got a decent pan (I still have some of my cheapies.) I stopped burning stuff for a start!May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0
