Savings diaries on this board

I must be psychic because i asked that very question how to block/hide threads yesterday:
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3339908
As yet no replies. Seems no one knows how to do this.
Surely you can private meesage MSE Andrea?0 -
IMHO it is not rude to start a diary thread, but it is rude to post on those threads to complain about them. That bumps them to the top, after all.
I would suggest that anyone trying to save money shouldn't go out too much lol. I would suggest that people who aren't inspired shouldnt read those threads. I would suggest that anyone cares so much about people posting diaries needs a real life.
at least when I posted on the saving log people actually responded........
you better watch out or i'll start a saving log.....0 -
Thanks for your replies everyone
The suggestion of a diaries board is a good one. Personally I think it may be worth turning the Debt Free Diaries sub-board into a main, "Diaries" board, but that's something I'd need to discuss with the rest of the team, it's just a thought right now.
There isn't an "ignore thread" option as far as I'm aware, I meant that you could add people whose posts you don't like to the your ignore list, but again it's something I'll ask talk to the team about and find out from the techies if it is even possible.
Meanwhile, please keep this thread friendly. If it heads into the same unfriendly territory that prompted me to post in the first place I'll have to close it.
Thank you!

Is there a facility to hide threads in which one has no interest? All I can find is a facility to hide posts from particular members and that is not what is required.
I suggest a separate sub-forum would be a more appropriate place for bloggers.
Doesn't really need any facility....just don't click on it if you are not interested. I very rarely comment on them, but find them useful, but above all interesting and inspiring.0 -
Andrea,
Don't give into the minority of anti blog cynics/pillocks. Those who make the loudest noise are not the majority.
They are already making a mockery of you and your post/compromise:

If you make it a sub forum, or a minor area where newbies won't see it, it will mean that 99% of those who could be helped wont' be. All because of a few trouble makers who seem to give little to no advice that I can see.0 -

The OP on that thread was posting it as a joke. Its not being horrible to anyone or creating any trouble. As Andrea says, you can ignore it if you dont want to see it.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
I object to them poking fun at MSE after being disruptive on other threads.
They can't get their way so are stomping their tiny feet. I have no problem stomping back.0 -
Those that are complaining about people starting Savings dairies on this board need to look at the title of this board - SAVINGS & Investments. Fairplay to them for trying to save what they can afford to put by, if they update it regularly then its good for others in a similar position who also need the support and encouragement.
It works both ways, I'm sure that those who are struggling to start or make their savings grow find the investment threads just as boring. Just don't bother opening up a thread that is of no interest to you, simples!
Everyone needs to start somewhere, pennies make pounds. Starting to build your savings pot is a good habit to get into, better than getting into debt.
Sometimes people need to remember whether your helping someone save a penny or a pound its all relevant to the OP regardless of your own post/thank count or net worth.
"Never look down on anybody unless you're helping them up" comes to mind.Never let the perfume of the premium overpower the odour of the risk0 -

From what I am aware i haven't been disruptive on anyones thread. If you don't like my posts please follow your own advice and ignore them.0 -

er.. yes you have. I'm one of a number of people who have found your posts disruptive. Why don't you get with the spirit of MSE instead or ridiculing other savers ?#39 - Save £12k in 20250
