Hi everyone
We just want to clear up a misconception we've seen on this board.
We've noticed a few people have complained about savings diaries.
We love diary threads on MSE, they inspire the people reading them and the people posting them.
For those that don't like them, please do make use of the ignore facility and don't read them. Above all, though, if you don't like them don't post on them to say so. It's not friendly and not within the spirit of the site.
Thank you!

Is there a facility to hide threads in which one has no interest? All I can find is a facility to hide posts from particular members and that is not what is required.
I suggest a separate sub-forum would be a more appropriate place for bloggers.0 -
Hi
Where is the ignore facility? (just in case I need it)0 -
All that I can find is User CP / Edit Ignore List but as I posted above that does not help.0

They have one in the Debt Free board, so it would make sense to have one in the savings board too.0 -

I think this is a mistake. It really needs a separate sub forum.
This is a savings and INVESTMENT forum.
Imagine if 50 people all started personal diaries and keep updating/bumping it with personal bills about our shopping and cars.
Some of us view the forum on small screens and only look at the latest 20 threads. If they are all diaries it isn't a savings and investment forum.0 -

Great to hear that.
I regularly lurk over here for inspiration & motivation.
I find many tv programmes boring ... so I don't watch them.

I have avoided the blog style threads as this is not a blog but I dont mind people posting them as long as they dont drown out the other threads. This is a very busy section as it is.
However, Andrea, you mention an ignore facility. I cannot find any facility to ignore threads. Only to ignore posters (and that isnt appropriate here). Can you tell us where this ignore thread option is? That would be ideal if it could hide the threads you are not interested in.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
I must be psychic because i asked that very question how to block/hide threads yesterday:

As yet no replies. Seems no one knows how to do this.0 -
IMHO it is not rude to start a diary thread, but it is rude to post on those threads to complain about them. That bumps them to the top, after all.
I would suggest that anyone trying to save money shouldn't go out too much lol. I would suggest that people who aren't inspired shouldnt read those threads. I would suggest that anyone cares so much about people posting diaries needs a real life.0
