If you park further down Cathays Park (nearer old Welsh Office) there are long stay spaces.
North Road car park is free on a SundayBut spaces go quite quickly, usually fills up by 11/12.

Are you talking of the car park runs along the side of Bute park/Nth Road?
On Sunday I saw a car being ticketed & photographed with ticket by an APCOA person in that car park opposite the police station.0 -
Yeah...I used to park my car there every Sunday when I was working in the centre. Although this was a few months back now. The sign used to to state all the charges and said "Monday - Saturday only." Maybe it's changed?0

Two years later i find this thread! But only because i was using the new Google Street View to look at the Inn on the River. Why? Cos i used to work there in '92 before going off to university. I used to wear shorts and one of the locals would give me a lift home to Ely on an evening as he and his mate lived there as well. He drove a blue Opel Manta and his mate was a lecturer at Cardiff uni. Other than that, i remember, Gail used to work there as well and Bassey used to drink after finishing work on the railways or before lol, and was supposed to be related to Shirley Bassey. As for being a rough area...? Cast your minds back to what Bute Street was like and the high rise flats! But anyways just thought i'd add my bit bout the Pub on the Mud. Oh! And 7ft Dennis from New Zealand.0

The Inn on the River is currently being converted to flats isn't it?
They appear to have knocked down what was a lovely old building and replaced it with a big timber frame. As if there aren't enough empty flats in that area already.0 -

I wonder if that link will work, it is (or was) a nice building for conversion, hope it hasn't been knocked down.0 -

Unfortunately it was flattened some time ago. A great loss to the area in my opinion.0
