Bless! I met my own lovely German husband on a school exchange when I was 17, so we have naturally always been very careful about what school trips our dear daughter went on :rotfl:
    Hope is not a strategy.

i think someone mentioned this before so i gave it a try and adapted it::

    veggie soup

use 3 value stock cubes in slow cooker and add any chopped veg reduced (hands not up to chopping).
i alos add some fresh reduced corriander when i remember.
had cheese left over from tescos meal deals so first added the stilton, but since used the brie and yesterday added reduced gorgonzola.

cooked veg and stock cube in slow cooker for a few hours (or in pan) then mix with blender and add cheese whilst hot and corriander.

put in pots to freeze - ymmy.

I happened to find myself in Sainsburys yesterday, and have to say they are actually better for one or two of the value things. Their value mashed potato is 20p for 250g - Mr T has slashed the size of his packets to 120g for the same price, cheeky so and so. Maeks me so mad when they assume we are stupid and won't notice.

I also like their Basics washing powder - £1.75 for a big box, and their tomato ketchup is a steal at 22p for a large bottle.

i always buy tesco vale but may try this as easier to get to sainsburys!

Cream of broccolli soup (44p for 6 portions)

1 X bag of Tesco Value frozen broc 30p
3 x value stock cubes (I use 2 veg and one chicken but use what you prefer) 3p
    Salt and pepper 1p
Double cream to personal taste (A splash if you're dieting, a good slug if you're not!) 10p ish

Put broccolli in a large pan and cover with boiling water, crumble in stock cubes, cook for about 20 minutes until brocolli is tender. Turn off heat, allow to cool down a bit and then blitz with a hand blender/food processor. Stir in the cream and season to taste.

This is SO good, tastes much more than the sum of its parts, iykwim.
