Thanks everyone - its really good to get opinions as to what is worth buying or not.
Yes the scones are nice and will try the hot choc and gravy now too.

One which we (well the kids really) like in our house which i don't think has been mentioned yet is the chocolate spread - 86p for a massive jar (600g)
Value honey is quite good too although I think this has gone up q a lot recently - used to be around 70p but is now more like a quid"You've got to cut your cloth to suit your wassname" Terry (my Dad), 1944-present0 -

bought the porridge oats last week, hadn't tried them til yest, all ok, just like normal scotts or whatever!!0 -
I threw my Jug-it in the recycling bin today. The milk comes out from under the spout and goes all over the worktop. In my opinion, it is one of the worst things ever invented! In future, if the bags of milk are on offer, I will just wash and re-use a plastic milk bottle.
D'you know, I genuinely never thought of that! I've been using my jugit for ecological reasons, and I've found it quite annoying, but persevered.
Thanks Issyc, you've just helped the environment by causing me to use less cleaning solutions on my work surface, using less kitchen towels and helping my work surface last longer, so saving me money too!0 -
The crunchy peanut butter is fine, no complaints from my two eldest!
I use the Value golden syrup for cooking with and it's fine too, doesn't have the distinctive taste of Tate & Lyles' but in cooking doesn't really matter.0 -
Tesco Value Fromage Frais 6X60g = 44p. They look like Petit Filous which are usually about £1.50, I don't actually eat them myself but I got them for my children last week. They protested in the shop but didn't complain when eating them and said although they'd rather have the branded ones they couldn't taste much difference.
This week they're trying the Tesco Value Yoghurt 4X125g = 29p and the Tesco Value Chocolate Mousse 4X62.5g = 31pDebt Free: 01/01/2020

Great thread! I have tried most of the value brands, and they match up pretty well to the big brands. There are some things I have tried and thought were awful - the corn flakes and rice crispies were horrid, although other cereals are ok the weetabix is nice. My OH and kids don't like the gravy at all, I think it tastes like KFC chicken gravy, but they don't like that either lol. Oh and the biscuits are brill, for example the custard creams taste just like the more expensive ones, and the shortbread fingers are lovely (I remember when they were 9p though, they are 28p now I think).0

The bourbons and choc digestives are lovely, again no complaints from my lot!0

Hartley's orange flavoured jelly is 19p at the moment. All the other flavours are 36p.0

Forgot to say the large pots of plain Value Natural Yoghurt and as good and ones double the price - about 55p for 500g.Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. -- Sally Koch0
