I think try baking something - even get one of those kits from the supermarkets, which have the ingredients ready measured. You can't beat home baking! :) Teachers like the personal touch...

Hi all you teachers/classroom assistants. I'd love to know if these presents woudl be acceptable. There are class colections for the primary school techers, I am going to make cakes (Dundee or chocolate do you think? Chocolate less work and cheaper- I make fruit cakes for Christmas) for favourite teachers, librarian (always VERY involved with my children) violin teacher, office staff. There appear to be endless classroom assistants involved with the younger two who have specific reading difficulties.I think cakes woudl be cheapest for them too! I can bathc bake choclate cakes in loaf tins. Or else little pamper packs (small bath goodies thing- spilt pack from M&S, scented tea light, hot chocolate sachets in winter but probably cold enough to do them this summer). All with home made cards,
Token(£5 M&S) and cards for older 2 boys class tutors.
Does that sound about right- budget very tight at present but I want them to feel loved and appreciated!

yes that sound a lovely idea for the cakes . i would take them in a couple of days before the end of term so that they can be taken home or shared as the person sees fit . I have in the past missed the days that a teacher works if they are part time so it might be worth checking that they work all week. I have got my too boys a gift token from next as they can be spent on anything in there so yes five pounds is plenty ....
    hope this helps ..........
  • i normally find a nice teacher poem off the internet print it out and get the son or daughter to design a border round it in crayon etc. then sign it and date it, then frame it. makes a very nice pressie and cheap too!

Thank you, good idea about not leaving it until the last week . I will cook one batch at the weekend if I have time and one batch next week.

My DD's nursery teacher is the best ever and i'm so gutted she's leaving and starting school, she's everything you expect in a teacher and more and i am stumped as what to get her and the other ta's in the class.!!
I was thinking of getting something for the actual nursery say a big story book and tape or something like that do you think that will go down well as well as a card made by DD???

ecited to add: also where to get big book/tape from lol...
Other women want a boob job. Honey the only silicone i'm interested in is on a 12 cup muffin tray, preferably shaped like little hearts

    wow great thread

this year (dd in reception) have done something different, have brought from UNICEF gifts for a school in africa, brought pencils for 500 kids for the TA and exercise books for 50 children for DDs teacher, you get a nice card detailing the gift for your child to send,

then DD will make some delicious cakes we made for fathers day for Dh (although they were too delicious for him not to share) for the staff room

last year when dd left nursery one of the mums brought the nursery a build a bear and he came with a journal for the children to take him on adventures (the nursery did this as they already has 2 and the kids loved bringing him home)

i saw these in home bargains a few days ago. They were with all the other books and are the actual school packs that teachers use, containing lots of material to support the story.

I don't suppose by any chance you noticed if one of them was Brown Bear, Brown Bear by Eric Carle? I know there's a big format version of this, and need it for a party in September, but can't find them at a reasonable price.

Having read thro this thread earlier in the week I took in cakes and cookies on Thursday for my girls teachers. I know it was appreciated as the teacher (not my DDs) on playground duty friday came and personally thanked my DD and I. So thanks all for your advice.
