is your older child getting fed at school at least? Just explain to them what is going on to make sure he gets a decent meal at school - don't worry about paying for it, schools are very good that way. There may also be a welfare officer or a teacher concerned with welfare issues at school - why don't you go and ask tomorrow? I have been through a difficult time and the teacher concerned has been incredibly helpful where she can be - it's worth asking. I would think Women's Aid will be your best bet - if you need to call them, have a word with the school in the morning (sit down and cry if needs be) and I bet they'll be willing to help out a little.

Go back to social services and ask for another food parcel - I know they said that the last one was your last, but maybe they were just trying to chivvy you along - they surely cannot leave children, including a tiny baby, to starve.

Take along your benefits letters (child benefit and CTC / housing B) and ask that the social worker rings and that he/she tries to sort it out - maybe you are not being assertive enough (which is not surprising given your situation)?

If that doesn't work, take your children along to the nearest church and ask for help there, you will not be turned away.

What an awful situation for you. Don't give up - you just need to get through the next few weeks until your CTC etc gets sorted.

    Good luck.

Do not even think about going back to this guy. Things will work out, it's just going to take a little longer than anyone would like. ;)

As you said your partner will be sitting there with pizza and a beer KNOWING you and THE CHILDREN ARE STARVING. Anyone who can do that, and put their own ego before feeding the mouths of their own children does not deserve to breath - he is willing to let his children starve and suffer - ask yourself - is he really what you want or need? This situation, even though it is very hard, is temporary, going back to him will not be and he will be more violent than before - trust me.

Just got this off the HB site, so I would contact them via email, look for your local HB office online
If you are in very urgent need, you can get an emergency payment. But you can only have one if you have sent us all the information we have asked for from you and your landlord.
