Well, I'm almost ready. I'm off to the butcher's to collect my ham and my goose (mum is paying for the ham).
Once I know the weght of my goose I shall make up a timetable for Christmas day so that everything is ready at the same time - thanks Delia
Other things to do today are; make quick flaky pastry for tomorrow's sausage rolls and cover my orange and ginger cake with chocolate ganache.
Getting excited now:santa2: :xmastree: :snow_grin :rudolf:0 -

Kaz Of course, forgot all about the heating. I know once fleas drop into the carpet they are a pain to get rid off.
When you talk of gammon, I'm wondering if it's another name we call pickled pork. Never heard of gammon, and pickled pork isn't a usual thing to cook at Christmas. It's just a lot of the Christmas food traditions we have here are from the British although is is evolving now thank goodness. Way too hot for all that heavy food this time of year. We also don't do the sprout thing.Never tried goose either Thriftlady. You lot are a very *gamey* lot aren't you.
Well we've had tea and off to do the dishes & then some ironing. It's way cooler to do that chore at night. DD made some more bailey's balls. They are quite sickening after a while. Is anybody getting snow? None here.
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Only one more shift at work tonight and then 2 weeks off................yeah:T
Have a lovely day Catowen - I hope you get spoilt all day long
Not too much to do here thank goodness.
My dd is going to her first football match today with dh, I dont know who is more excited him or her. I'm a bit worried that she will hate it/freeze/be bored or anything like that. I bet he doesn't stay for the full match.
I need to go to Tescos's this morning to get a few bits and I still have a pressie to buy for my neice - I bought her a pretend ironing board set but my dd fell in love with it so have wrapped it up for her instead.
I hope everyones little ones are feeling better soon. My dd had an ear infection for christmas when she was two and it was horrible. She didn't even look at her presents all day.
Have a good day all:p0 -
Morning all, Happy Birthday catowen
Well got to bed after 2am, but all the presents are wrapped. Couldn't sleep properly as DP was at work and didn't come home until 5am...... must have been busy last night. Kids were up by 7am so I am shattered.
Large list of things to get done today, going to have a look for a Jam Roly Poly recipe at some point, DP wanted to buy one yesterday but I said no I will make one, got to be cheaper than the £4 shop bought one.
Got to brave the traffic to go and get DS2s glasses and DS1s repaired, typical at Tescos opticians, whichh was chaos yesterday so will probably be worse today. DP wants getting up at 12 to go back into work again, can't blame him seeing as it's busiest time of year for him I suppose, just hope doesn't run himself down like last year.
I still don't know if we'll have an extra canine mouth to feed this year, depends if my friend managed to get a home for the little puppy yesterday, I have promised to take care of her if she hasn't found a home, no way I can see her homeless at Christmas, poor little things only 8 weeks old and was going to be shotIf I do end up with her today will have to go and buy things for her, as she will come with nothing.
One day I might be more organised...........
GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
Good morning everyone,
First, a HUGE THANK YOU for all your lovely birthday wishes - my day has started wonderfully, a lie-in, followed by a cup of tea in bed and lots of lovely pressies from my children, and a few from other people (including wine, my friends know me well!!!) then i came to check my emails, and had a birthday one from the team at moneysavingexpert forums, and then on here all your lovely wishes. It has brought happy tears and really has helped make my day, so thank you all again!!!!
Anyway, no OS plans for today, as such. We went to a friends house for a little party last night (her step daughters birthday is tomorrow, but they are going away today) and ive ended up bringing the leftovers home (including most of a chocolate log, which we are going to stick candles in later and have it as a birthday cake!!!!) so thats what we will be having for lunch, and tonight im treating myself to a chinese takeaway!!!! My bedding is in the WM at the moment, and i have another load to do later.
Just having a hot choc now, and watching Saturday kitchen in my new slippers and having a browse, and my lovely children have promised to behave all day, and so far, so good!!!!!
I hope everyone has a lovely day, Christmas wishes to anyone who wont be logging on again in the next few days, and thank you again for those birthday wishes, it really has helped make my day!!!!
Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
PS - Vicky, noticed your boys did well last night, so well worth the smoked salmon sandwiches!!!!!0 -
Morning All - Hope we are well
Happy birthday catowen
OH tackled Tesco's this morning, he managed to get everything we needed. (which wasn't a lot), he said he spent 20mins shopping, then 40 mins in the que.
WM on, will do some ironing in a bit. Then when the kids go to their dad's it will be a big clean.
Still got my headache from last night.

Happy Birthday Catowen :bdaycake:
Broken night's sleep last night as DS2 came in at 2.15. Got up at 7 to give him nrekkie and took an hour or so out, to drik lots of tea, watch the news and read the local paper. Then we watched Doctor WhoHowever, BM has been on, as has DW and I hae a mountain of pastry chilling in the fridge, ready for those HM mince pies
Mr TM has just taken boys into town, for a mooch. I was going to be ready to crack on with jobs, but I'm still sat here in my DG (I have now removed my Good Housekeeping apron which arrived this morning) Will jump in shower and was my hair in a sec.
Haven't thought about timings of anything yet. Haven't even decided what's for starter. I have prawns or smoked salmon, and melon to choose from, (mum and kids don't like either of the first 2) Sister is bringing the ham so I will do the goose and either chicken or small turkey (mum doesn't like goose either) as and when I get round to it. Xmas lunch is always 2 hours later than planned anyway :rotfl: At least I have my new double oven :j Will be prepping and freezing the parmesan parsnips later and may even prep the roasties too
Tonight we are all going to see Jack and the Beanstalk. DS2 loves the "mantopime" - well, we all do
Right, ((hugs)) all round and have a good day. If it doesn't all get done, no-one will remember, so chill and take some time for yourself!!
Love
TM xxx
