Have approx £8000 endowment shortfall to look forward to in Oct 2014 plus a couple of daughters of marriagable age within that period too so it's a case of carrying on looking after every penny very carefully for the foreseeable future. Do think it'll be more fun saving up than paying back though but it will sting when it comes to handing over the mortgage money!
I already have one that married 6 years ago:eek: paid for as well in cash which i was mightily proud of at the time..:D
Oct 14 is three years away. So that is 36 months( i am doing the shorter version) It works out at about £222 per month. Approx £55 per week..now if i break that further down, then i could suggest that you could aim for £10 per day and you will break your target.:D Get your thinking cap on and see how you can make a tenner a day.:TBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

Hi BOB sorry that your OH STILL doesn't get it. That is a real shame. I can't think how it must be having someone who has such a different view on money to me. My OH doesn't really spend anything on himself bless. Helps having only one bank account over here that I check more than he does, so would see anything stupid he bought....
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

I have a good job, i have a better social life, i am giving back to the community with my volunteer work, my children are grown into polite and respectful adults( they have their moments though) so i want to be in a position where i can help them further and enjoy my life more instead of worrying over everything.
you'll never change him so you just need cunning plans..ie my DH is great at earning money but useless at allocating/spending it in the right place. So I have total control over all the finances and we both have £40 each personal spends per week and then I sort out what is spent/saved where and this really works.
it's lovely to read the things you are thankful for xx being in debt won't be forever though as you're doing fantastically,0 -

Hi Chev, i suppose that it wasn't a problem until it became a problem..err if that makes sense?:rotfl::rotfl:
I set myself up a bit as i was always independent and used to looking after myself and others. So over the years the habits became ingrained. I learned to look the other way and spend as well( i take full blame for my part as well) and so he took that for granted.
I have always been a doer and a fixer, so i suppose when i stopped that's when he became- "well it was never a problem before..etc." He has changed some habits but not quick enough for me, paying lip service doesn't cut it any more. I plod along and i am chuffed at the amount cleared. I am still making mistakes as well, I am learning and will continue to do so. I will continue to post about frugal habits which i hope will become so ingrained that i lead a better sustainable life.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

He he well I looked at the £10 a day challenge after you said and one of the methods mentioned is how I got into a lot of trouble in the first place, 'saving money' in the sales. 'I saved you £400 today darling' :rotfl:
Will plod on popping what I can in the sealed and virtual pots and doing what I can on ebay but as for actually 'making' an extra £10 a day, can't quite get my head around that one yet.:oLBM April 2011 £4906

needing accountability - it takes a while to build up to it, but its absolutely possible - mystery shopping, matched betting, um, there was lots of bingo money available for no risk when I was doing it, surveys, getting onto focus groups (£50 in cash for me one time! that was fun
), just check out what people are doing on the thread. You might also count money saved - for instance, when I went onto a water meter, I saved myself £35 a month! I counted that in for a couple of months, I can tell you
