Here comes Bob, here comes Bob
Riding through the glen
Tho' she's debt-free, she still needs a job
Not debt free men, fall in her way
Here comes Bob, here comes Bob, here comes Bob.

Hi bob,
Just popping in to say I intermittently followed your old diary, and intend to slightly more assiduously follow the new one! Any tips on hauling chaps' heads out of the sand much appreciated, Mr L and I don't have joint debt (yet - and fingers crossed) but tend to spend too much when we're together... But me being a poor full-time masters student my dosh doesn't go that far! Ho hum. Turnips, not truffles, the order of the day for me I suspect...“Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goals.”

Oh absolutely i was sooo thinking of hens and pens
Well today was a busy day in one way and another- they usually are. I have been told off for counting down the days on FB so i won't do it there..hehehehe, but i can't wait until the end of term, or the end of the week for that matter.
Plans-
Well they are a bit up in the air at the moment. The house has to be titivated up, a few jobs need doing and i have set aside a budget of £500 to complete them. I am hoping it will be a lot less than that.
Still haven't heard back from Tix credits...but i hope it has put a spanner in the works somewhere.
I am owed a further tax rebate as well..so hoping that will balance a few things out.
Shopping/utilities
I am back on the challenges and monitoring gas and electric. We have moved companies and have paid the final bill so starting with a clean slate, new tarrifs and whatnot. I will be making sure everything is turned off. We have energy efficient appliances, everything has been serviced so here's to a decent summer bill.
Shopping today came to £35 so i will duly mark that in my challenge.
Hope everyone is having a productive day.

Hi Lotti- well Mr B is a reluctant fellow, and i have had my trials and tribulations( ooh next diary title methinks:D) I have to say that it tends to work best when he thinks it is his idea, IFYSWIM..he can't follow a budget. So i made sure he had no access to anything other than his own bank account. He no longer uses credit cards and the joint debt is being paid down. Goodness knows where he would be now if he carried on that way. He is bad enough as it is.
I also stopped subbing him money, although i do pay for treats every month or so..mainly because i need the odd treat to. That way i know the spare cash is paying everything down.
I am quite frugal, i live in a budget, buy cheaply and make a lot of things. I sneakily enjoy the challenge:D My one tip if at all possible is to keep as much as you can separate- saves a lot of hassle in the long run as the bank swiped money from savings and my account to pay off Mr.B's stuff- without any warning to me..although he knew:mad: But i am so far down the road now that it would be a waste of time looking back with hindsight.
One of the other things is looking at exactly what is owed and what isn't. When i started this journey i personally owed a fair bit, mostly car loan- then i took on 0% cards to pay off things so my debt went up..but always within budget. I also overpaid a lot of joint stuff and i calculated exactly how much today..bloody eye watering i can tell you. At least i can see things going down now. Mr. B no longer impacts on me to much financially so that is good as i have just been offered another 0% card. Of course when it comes to moving and stuff i am hoping i don't get penalized for things too much and can get a decent mortgage deal.
I am doing a masters part time so i feel your pain.
Bet you weren't expecting all of that:cool::rotfl:Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

Hens and pens? I was thinking turnips??
A brand new diary with no smut - surely it can't last
If you are doing the debtbusting as a joint venture Bob, it might be worthwhile going through the expenditure, then saying and we saved £x by doing this, and this etc. Just so that it isn't so much a chore for Mr Bob who may actually get behind you a bit more (debtbustingwise before anyone says something...)After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91
Dad Gift 6k ¦ Savings & Inv Tst: £2,500
Loan 10k: £0 ¦ Dad 5.5k: £2,270 ¦ LTSB: £0 ¦ RBS: £0 ¦ Virgin £0 ¦ Egg £0
Total Owed: £2,270 (+6k) 11/08/20110 -

Well i was being good for the first page George:p:rotfl:
Now you are using dirty words- joint debtbusting and Mr.B really do not belong in the same sentence together:eek: It is more appropriate to say Mr.B is on a moneysaving diet- he can't get any, he won't get any and until he has lost surplus debt...well i am sure you can finish the sentence off:D
I did used to say we have saved x by doing this...but at one point he took that as..ooo £50 extra a month for me..so i don't tell him:cool: One has to approach this in a certain way. It's for the best..honest. He is paying his stuff off, i am paying the mortgage, gas, electric, food and petrol etc. As well as a certain amount off the cards. I know that the essentials are covered and he can't muck em up.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
