I just use cheap black bin bags and tuck them underneath the littter tray and line them with old newspapers or mags before i put the litter in, that way if your cat scratches it wont put a hole in the bin liner. I have never had any problems with doing it this way and my cats are thirteen and mainly indoor cats x0

Yes using newspaper works and is free if you usually buy papers anyway and your local paper aswell.Offical MSE Fantasy League Member:beer:0

I was recommended 'chick crumbs' as an excellent and value for money cat litter by a cat breeder. They are actually a food for baby chicks, they are basically small pieces of corn and so are completely biodegradeble and the best thing is that you can flush the waste. I normally only flush poos and bag up the wees and put them in the bin.
There is a cat litter called 'Worlds best' cat litter which is £36 (no typo!) for 15kg, what is Worlds best made from - you've guessed it corn! The chick crumb is around £7 for a 20kg sack, it lasts absolutely ages, clumps and has good odour control. I get mine from Jollyes but you can get it from horsey/bird feed type places too. I used to use the grey clumping cat litter and got through double if not treble of the old style litter compared to chick crumbs.0 -
I rarely use my worktops without a breadboard or chopping board anyway, but I always clean them before I use them anyway- our cat doesn't go on them, but the local flies do, and some people may think they can hit a fly with a water pistol from 6 feet away but I'm not that hopeful- I'll stick to washing hands and boards, thank you very much!
Women and cats will do as they please, men and dogs (and Kimberly) should just get used to it!:pMember of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

I don't think i was rude, how can you judge me on some writing? You don't know me  I don't get into arguments with a computer and I'm certainly not changing my opinion just for you. cats getting on worktops is different from stroking them because you prepare food in the kitchen (kitchens should be kept hygenic free from all pets etc) and you never get cats in restaurants do you, but i bet chefs stroke their cats :rolleyes:0
