Bosch Siemens Neff Dishwashers 1999-2005 Fire Hazard

Some of Bosch Siemens Dishwashers made between 1999-2005 (600,000 of them) are subject to failure when the electricity supply companies pump too much voltage into peoples houses.
Hence a fire hazard.
They are offering a free repair.
To see if yours is affected see link http://www.repairaction.co.uk/
So basically you get a new control unit even though the machine is at least 6 years old.
By the way, the advice is do not use until repair if it is an affected model.

It's actually Bosch, Siemens and Neff dishwashers...
The batches affected are those between FD 7901 to FD 8504 and were manufactured (as stated above) between 1999 and early 2005.
As well as the website, you can call them on 0800 561 0082.If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

True. But so are Gaggenau, but they aren't affected by this safety issue. (And if you wanted to be ultra picky, they are BSH appliances)
I just wanted to be conciseIf it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

Well I absolutely urge everyone to take this safety notice very seriously. On the 26th May, we went to bed, popped our Bosch dishwasher on and went to sleep. Next thing we knew our house is on fire. We have had to move out and unless you live through this situation, you cannot understand how devastating it is. Every single room in the whole house, over three floors was smoke damaged. The soot is toxic and does not come off. It gets into even closed drawers. The fire damage is easier to sort that the carbon. It also gets into every single electrical appliance and just one speck of carbon will sit and eat away your electricals. We were told we were very very lucky to get out alive and apparantly, by the time our smoke alarms went off it would have been too late (our dogs woke us) because we only had normal smoke alarms and you need 'dual sensor' ones to save you from the toxic stuff caused by electrical items white goods that are burning. The amount of damage caused in 10 minutes is catastrophic and will keep us out of our home for up to 6 months, although some of us don't ever want to sleep there again. :-(0

I received my letter this morning. I have a Bosch dishwasher.
I have been on the website and have put in the numbers. I have now got an appointment arranged for Friday for a free repair
It is a bit scary though because I nearly always put my dishwasher on a night.0 -
Sorry to hear your story Snoddy, I suppose on a positive side at least you are all ok but I cant imagine having to deal with the after effects of such a fire.
I only found out about the problems last night when my Dad phoned me after reading about it in the paper. Sure enough my dishwasher from 2003 is one that needs to be looked at.
Very scary as we also always put it on before going to bed. I have an appointment for Friday but I am quite annoyed that they are only doing times between 9am and 5pm - I have had to take a day off work. However, putting into perspective, a day off work to get it sorted is better than a fire.0 -
I have phoned this AM and been told they can't arrange an appontment for me . I have to wait for them to call me back ,initially in 30 mins ,but when they failed to call, its now 24 hours. Same result online.
In the meantime I shouldn't use the machine , but if i have to ,i mustn't leave it unattended . 2 hours watching the dishwasher -beats television any day !!
Anyone else having simular problems ?0 -

Which number have you been using? the 0800 number?
I tried to do it all online last night but it said I couldnt book the appointment at that time and to call 08448928920
They closed at 8pm so I just missed them but I called again this morning and got straight through and booked my appointment. She did say that it should be the 0800 number to use but I explained that the other number had been given online.
Might be worth a try?0 -

If it is an effected model you should not use it & it should be switched off until the repair has taken place. Not Again0
