Does this deserve a neg?

Buying and the trying to change the price afterwards is a fairly new ebay scam - but increasing. The seller should report YOU for trying to change the price afterwards. Whats the choice for the seller again - change it or get a negative?
The price is the price and if you don't like it - why bid? Do you get a kick out of causing hassle for other ebayers?
As already stated - the price may have been reduced and added onto the postage to reduce fees - so that the savings could be passed onto you.
I always give a discount - but when i am buying i just pay the price i agreed to pay - no more, no less - UNLESS a discount was offered beforehand.
You got what you wanted for the price you agreed - but your fuming? How mad does that sound?0 -
The seller won't last long anyway.
They could be looking at 4 negs, and 4 sets of 1 stars for it.0 -
While charging too much for postage is a very old ebay scam.
Totally agree, and as someone who does not charge any p&p - i'm glad its getting harder to charge £1 for an item and then £9 postage to avoid fees. These listings clogged up the ebay search.
But the fact is, they DO save a lot in ebay fees - which is why they can then offer the item to the buyer CHEAPER - so the buyer gains. Only Ebay and rival sellers lose out.
Item £10 + free p&p. Another seller £1 + £8.50 p&p. You choose the cheapest , of course - and its obvious what the seller as done.
But to choose the cheapest and then expect that seller to charge cost price postage is daft. Everyone know its the total price that matters - and the seller is simply pricing different.
It also means the seller cannot afford cut price postage.
A deal is a deal - only untrustworthy people go back on a deal. I've said it before and i will say it again. DON'T BID!!!! The seller is better off without the hassle.
Even though my p&p is FREE - i'm still getting idiots asking for a discount if they buy more than one item. I block them - then tell them where to go.
It would be lovely to go through ebay, buying up all the cheapest items, without a care in the world about the high postage - knowing that i could then get the postage back - leaving the seller with heavy losses. But its wrong.0 -

He refused to do this.
I've now received the items, and they were all sent in the same package, and to be honest I'm fuming. The postage he paid was £2.00 (for the whole lot - they're quite light), but he charged £1.50 per item (which means he's up by £4.00 by combining, but didn't pass the discount on).
I think you epitomise how unappreciative and inconsiderate the vast majority of buyers on ebay are.
Did it ever occur to you the person is selling items because they are short of cash? Maybe the postage & packing charge is comprised of costs over and above the actually cost of sending the item.
People forget that for many people ebay is a means to make a few quid to help pay the bills. Expecting a wholey professional, customer orientated service is a bit unrealistic.
I mean repeat business is a rarity on ebay given the competitiveness of each market.0 -

Could you imagine being thrown out of the builders merchant, diy shop, tesco's, and being barred for life if you asked them did they do a discount if you bought a box full, or if there were any bogof's this week.0 -
just a wee note here..
1) the OP did enter into an agreement to pay X for the items and Y for the postage (and teh seller has no legal obligation to move from that)
- on a side note, the seller could argue that part of it was an administrative fee to package the goods (lets argue that there was a cost per item which he pays somebody to package the goods) and that the postage was offered on the understanding that he absorbed the cost of the actual sending himself.
so postage (£0) and packaging (£ 1.50) was indeed paid..
2) the OP DID ask for combined postage so in a way said ' i don't mind them being sent together' (also it IS better for the environment to waste less packaging)
at the end of the day its like £2.. and not the end of the world. leaving negative feedback will just upset people..
personally i'd let it go and just mark him up as a person not to deal with..
ps: i'd always charge less postage if i were the seller, that doesn't mean that we (as buyers) should EXPECT that..0 -
A seller who does upset a buyer in this way could be opening himself up to a lot of hassle, a devious (thieving) buyer could then claim that they only received one item, the seller only has COP for 1 packet. Neither ebay or paypal are going to be interested in the seller proving the weight per item & the weight of the packet to prove they sent all 4, but the buyer has the message saying that combined p&p isn't possible.
So the buyer receives 3 lots of p&p & the cost of 3 items back.
If you charge for 4 lots of p&p you do need to be sending 4 separate packets to protect yourself as much as anything from buyers who may take the opportunity to rip you off, get their own back, or whatever it would be seen as, depending on what side of the fence you're on.
The OP should have asked about combined p&p prior to buying.0 -
Someone just bought 2 items from me and paid straight away. I'd put £2.50 each postage so he paid £5. The combined postage came to £1.72 so I refunded £2 by PayPal as I thought that was fair. I must be too soft.
I do the same, if I combine I give a discount. If I didn't I would expect repercussions.
At the end of the day profiting from multiple purchases would be stupid, as I try to encourage buyer to buy more and come back.....
It is reasonable to pass on savings on postage, and to keep the paypal ones. There are also savings on packaging (although in my case not really, I did all the calculations).
It has happened that I did not realise that one person had bought two items without combining payment, and they got two parcels and no discount.
I wasn't, and would not expect to be, penalised.0 -
So you never leave bad feedback or DSRs incase you upset people? You obviously do not understand how ebay or the Feedback system works. the whole point is to rate your transaction so you can geive an 'honest' rating of it. That way future buyers can see if the seller is trustworthy or good to deal with. That way buyers can make informed decsions.at the end of the day its like £2.. and not the end of the world. leaving negative feedback will just upset people..

If people didn't leave bad FB incase they upset someone the whole reason of FB would fall apart. It would effect honest sellers as buyers would feel they could not trust the Feedback listed.'The More I know about people the Better I like my Dog'
